Default New tires on my bike, what have I done?!

I bought a 2001 Soft Tail 88 and had to replace the tires right off the bat. Both tires are Metzler. The rear is an ME880 Marathon 160/70 ($189) and the front is a MH 90-21 M/C 54H ($162). Question #1, did I get a fair deal? Question #2, are these good tires for that bike? Let me say right up front here that I'm an old codger (70) and don't plan on doing a lot of hot rodding or testing the limits of my skills on curves. Question #3, would the Dunlap Q2 been a better choice or perhaps another brand? Thanks in advance.

Metzlers are good tires and to reassure you on price, you seem to have paid the going rate. Is there something that makes you think they aren't living up to your expectations?

No. I asked because I'm new to riding a Harley and I did my last serious riding back in the 1970's. If the Metzlers are good all around tires then they'll suit me just fine. Like I said, I'm not going to be doing a bunch of hot rodding or testing the tire's limits on curves. Thanks for your input.

Rusty, you bought top brand tyres and can expect good service from them. Too late to bother about the price! Tyres are a frequent subject on HDF and Metzeler are one of the most popular brands.

I didn't know squat about MC tires but I knew I needed two of them so I rolled into The Broken Wheel here in Oakdale (CA) and told John I wanted some high quality rubber. It looks like he done me good at a fair price, can't ask for more than that.

For future reference when wanting to get answers on things to do with your bike, take a look in the Softail section here on HDF. Everything under the Sun to do with them gets covered in there!
