Unhappy with Metzelers
Recently got a flat tire in NC after doing the Dragon, Of course it was a Sunday @ 6:00 PM - Pulled off the interstate got a room at B&B and found out that all the Harley Dealers are closed on Monday.
Towed bike to a local shop & the guy put a Metzeler on back, I needed a fron tire also so wht the heck. rode away and after burning them in found out that the bike had a wobble or like a lane weave in it & was not comfortable going over 65MPH, the next 400 miles home realy sucked. after putting over 700 miles on the Metzelers I hate these tires.
Was wonderering if anyone has ever had a bad experience with Metzelers on thier Road Glide.

Have you checked what the correct pressures are for them? Some aftermarket tyres use different pressures to stock tyres. Metzelers have a lot of fans on HDF, so they can't all be wrong! Alternatively experiment with small changes of pressure to see if they improve. My own experience is that a little more pressure is better than less and I have experimented with various brands and sizes of tyres on my Harleys over the years.

I'm betting on the wrong air pressure also. They need 10+ lbs more than then stock on my sporty. Do a google search. I have new dunlops on my dyna and new meztelers 888 on the sporty. I ride them about 200 miles a day over mostly the same roads. The dunlops are like the princess and the pea with steering aids, I know every little crease in the road. With the metzlers the steering aids do not exist. The worst part is a 300 foot section under construction where the asphalt was ground off the same direction as the lane. On the dyna (dunlop) it must look like i'm standing on the pegs dancing. On the sporty (with the crappy front suspension) it is as smooth as the fresh pavement.

The specific pressure depends on which specific tire you have. Look at the sidewall and it will avhe a max PSI. For best results use max psi. There are many varying opinions on this but that is how we do it here.
Metzelers always take a higher pressure than the stock tire. But each size and brand are different so look at the tire. Very rarely there will be a misshapen tire or some other sort of defect, but this is extremely rare with Metzeler.

I've been a Metzler fan for years but recently had problems with a front tire that I couldn't balance out with Dyna beads. Scary shake above 65.
Turned out I had caused the problem by not storing the tires properly before I mounted them. Bought both front and rear online and they came banded tightly together and I left them that way standing upright over the winter. The front tire side wall became deformed from the banding and I had a hell of time getting the bead to seat as a result. It's gotten tolerable with the 3000 miles I have on them now but I'll never make that mistake again.
