It has come to be known that some Troops receive little or no mail. Our idea is to collect names and addresses of these Troops and have you, the Forum members sort of "Adopt" them. We hope that those of you who have family Deployed around the World will be able to furnish us with the names and addresses. My son Matt tells me these folks are very protective of the idea that they get little or no mail, so charity is sometimes refused by them. This way they get mail and Care Packages, in thier name and no one is the wiser as to how their name is collected. Imagine, especially at this time of year how they will feel getting a Care package, or a Card or letter from Stateside!
The idea is for you the membership to help us out here, PM me or vegashd with the names and addresses, we plan to keep this information Private and not on the Open Forum. Then when members here request a name we give them one or two or three, and we can now spread the Good Cheer to more troops. Also we will have infomation here that may help the Families when a Loved one is Deployed for the First time, or is scheduled to leave for Boot Camp etc.. We will have links to helpful sites and other information. Bring yer problems and concerns here, we are or have been there! We have the T-shirts!!!!!

Hey Rusty, we have post in Off Topic and in the PROD section. What if I moved those topics over here, left them pinned to the top with a link to this forum.
Cool, I was gonna ask Terry to do that, but anything that is in either of those places gets more attention than it will here, I didn't think of linking them, I guess thats why your on top pay and I'm getting slave wages! Thanks

Hey Rusty, something bizarre is going on, I went to move the threads over here and leave a trace in the Off Topic, but I'm getting errors and they're appearing here. I'll go ahead and create a post announcing the arrival of this forum section with a link here.
I am gonna start a list tomorrow when I get back at my desk. I also would not mind knowing roughly whent he return home dates will be. This will help make things easier when sending off packages.
I am hoping to have a 2k nmes and address years end.
The research that I have found that only 1 in 10 soldiers get mail. I would venture to say with no hard proof that 99% of the people have ot have family members close to them. So this statistic is very sad to me.
I have emailed my little brother and let him know that ANYONE that he knows over there to collect EVERYONES names and addresses who is not geting very much or if any mail. My little brother was talking about baby powder, socks, boxer briefs, jerkey etc. If he wants this stuff so does every other soldier. HE also asked If I could send him some REAL shampoo. I guess washing your hair with real shampoo is a vast improvement. Anything to make them feel at home.
This is an awesome idea. When some names come in I'll take one. Great ideas of what to send Vegas. Maybe some can add to it. It's good to be able to come on this forum and see so many patriotic people.

Screamin' Eagle, oh forget it. Way to much to list.
Very sad statistic. Unfortunately some people struggle to makes ends meet when a loved one is deployed and even the smallest expense can be a burden. Count me in too please!
