Good question! I'd take a look at this thread http://www.hdforums.com/m_1028476/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#1028476

Its a spark plug educational sector that i posted last week. It explains the benefits of fine wire & iridium spark plugs. Let me know if you have any questions!

H-D isn't one of the coices when searching for parts.

What spark plugs do you recommend for a '06 Dyna?

The first drop-down box automatically defaults to Automotive - if you change it to PowerSport and then choose Motorcycles, mopeds, etc., you'll be able to find HD.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I found it, thanx. You have to choose the brand of plug before choosing the vehicle.

denso's website doesn't have updated information either.  Best thing to do would be to find the HD recommended part number for your Sportster, and then from there we can try to cross it over to the denso iridium

For the NGK Iridium plug it only lists Sportsters from 1985 - 2003 & quotes the DCPR7EIX type. Is this plug suitable for an '05, 883 Sportster? Thanks. Mike.

Hi Mike, if there weren't any engine changes from 03 to 05, the plug would be the same. If you're unsure, or if there was an engine change, the easiest way to find your recommended plug would be your owners manual, or by calling a dealer to get their recommended part number.  From there, we should be able to cross that part number into any brand and plug type that you're looking for.

Unfortunately, it takes the spark plug manufacturers 1-2 years after a vehicle is released before they have updated recommendations for those vehicles.  So at the end of 06, we just started to see more thorough, complete 04 recommendations, and some sparse 05.

I'm running 4265 Autolite's in my 96" S&S Motor. Run's good, any other recommendations? Are the NGK's worth changing over to?

I fitted NGK IX Iridium plugs a while back & noticed an immediate difference. Faster starting, much smoother idle, marginally better fuel economy & I think (although it could be wishful thinking!!) that the acceleration is better. They are supposed to be good for a minimum of 25,000 miles, so whilst they are initially quite expensive they are cheap in the long run. I kept my 'standard' plugs as spares as they had only done a couple of thousand miles. The NGK's get my vote.

i've purchased the NGK iridiums for my 04 carbed bike. I have bought a 08 HD model with fuel injection. I have read in the past that some plugs will throw a trouble code on the fuel injected bikes. Will the NGK iridiums throw a code on my bike

if your looking for a good plug use the ngk iridium, thats all i use.   champ is garbage. autolite will work. denso is almost the same as ngk iridiums, just pay more for denso. splitfire  good for your lawnmower!  splitfire has 3 points to cross no good. just remember  the DCPR7EIX does not fit for all bikes. check your specs. hd stock plugs last about 3800 miles if your lucky. but you have to choose your self.  burn them up till ya find the right ones.

Seem like it would be easier if you could put in the vehicle information and then display all of the available plugs.

So far, the site sucks for buying marts for a bike! They give you a way to search for makes of cars, makes of plugs, or by part number, but as to searching by motor type.... CRAP!

I just tried the site and had no problem finding the plugs by motor type and size for Champion and NGK. Under type of vehicle choose "PowerSport".
