1980 - 1990 US Air Force

631X0 - Fuel Specialist, fancy name for Goober of the flightline. "You want regular or high test in that F-4?"
304X0 - Wideband Communications, my equipment was in the back of a truck, they made me sleep in a tent and I had to wear a camouflage uniform. Should have just been in the freaking Army!

1990 - 1992 Florida Air National Guard

304X1 - Satellite Communications, much more sophisticated. My equipment was in a truck, they made me sleep in a tent and I had to wear a camouflage uniform. On second thought maybe I stood too close to those damn antennas?

USMC 1987 - 1989 (Joined when I was 27. Had a very hard time with my weight. Never could get it down where they wanted it to be. (I got close!) I was discharged honorable, but early. All I needed was 5 lbs to stay in but just couldn't shake it. Perhaps if I had joined earlier). I remember my last PFT, my First Shirt said I was the strongest, fat Marine he had.

Brother US Army - Joined shortly after I did. Desert Storm - He came back a-ok.

Uncle (mothers side) USMC - Not sure on timeline - Between Korean and Vietnam war - returned a-ok.

Uncle (Dad's side) US Army - Vietnam war - returned a little messed up (not wounded, just different)

Grandfather (Mother's side) Navy WWII. - came back a-ok.

I never saw any action (I was a 0331 Machine gunner), but a year after I was discharged my company was sent to Desert Storm (1st Bat/7th Marines). I saw my buddies on CNN one night. I was scared to death for them. As far as I know, none of my buddies got hurt.

I have nothing but respect for all members of any service.

Amen to that. Nothing like having a son/daughter serve, it gets me fired up when people disrespect the country, gov't etc. I guess when I was in it was me and I didn't give rip what folks said, now my young 'un is in and I don't tolerate it as well.
