I have a 2004 RK classic, 7000mi. when engine gets warmed up, shifting get louder and louder. Sounds like two guys banging dish pans. Embarassing when people stop and look. HD dealers says this is normal, any help out there?

Mine has the famous HD "clunk" but I don't know that I would say "dishpans"
The only time mine is alarming is when downshifting to first...sometimes when still moving, if I'm downshifting to first and don't step on it with a little bit of authority, I can hear some gears grinding...OUCH. This happens when I'm not paying attention, and sometimes I get lost in all the gears.
try adjusting the clutch so it grabs further away from the bar and see how that sounds

You might also try a good grade of trans lube, don't know what you're running in there, but try Mobil 1 - 75/90 or redline shockproof for a better lubrication after you adjust the clutch.
There is a clunk. My shifting alternates from loud to quiet. For example, the bike can be parked and I can shift down to first (clunk), then up to second (clunk). I can do it a second time and it will go in smoothly next time. As the bike warms up I think the shifting gets a little quieter. However, with it going from clunk to quiet randomly it might not be a valid observation. But harley's do shift loudly. Sometimes you can hear it a block or two away.
Being new to the world of Harley Davidson ... I thought the "clunk" was pretty loud. I'm thinking that there's got to be something wrong here. What a noise
01 Night Train - Springer floorboards, Heritage 16" front wheel, Duece 17" rear wheel, Mammoth solo seat, black powder coated tins & very little chrome ...
That's what I had to do with the Springer Classic to get rid of the clunk, take allmost all the free play out of the clutch cable. I don't know what the deal is with the new trany's the trany in my 87 is was a new trany for a 93 and it dosen't make a sound when shifting. My 93 Springer was quite too.
