Default update on my brother

I think I pmd ****** about his wife not hearing from him for 4 days now. I told her not to worry.

Well My little brother called me just now and he said they had shut the phones down as they took on IEDs and rocket that hit about 50 meters from where they slept. While guys were grabbing armor and running the other way my little brother ran to aid in his boxers. He helped 3 guys with casualties with shrapmedal in his head and one in his arm and the last in his leg. 4 people lost their lives in the attack. Because of this they had shut phones down in the area till all family members could properly be notified.

He said he got a CAP or something medal or pin or something.

Vegas, It is common practice to shut down phones and internet whenever someone is seriously hurt or killed. They black it out until the next of kin are notified. Sometimes not hearing from someone for a few days is a good thing, as odd as that sounds.

that is what I told my little brothers wife. She called me and was worried that she had not hear anything since thursday. She called me Sunday. i said to be honest not hearing anything is great. She would be the first to know if something happened. She agreed. i was not to worried about it though.

Glad to know he's OK the badge he is referring to is the Combat Action Badge (CAB). Given to those non-infantry types who can't earn the combat infantryman badge as they are none infantry. The shutting down phones in mandatory as is the internet as we don't want family members to be notified other than through proper command channels. They and the departed deserve that.

Glad he is OK, sorry he lost some Bros. We went thru that phone and Internet stuff both times Matt was overthere. Twice we were in a conversation when the lines were shutdown. Not a good feeling and the next couple of days are HELL![sm=americanasmiley.gif]

I am glad to hear he is ok.

Beieve me I know that same feeling your brothers wife is talking about. My son has been over since mid october and we've had it several times already. As difficult as it is, I hang onto that I am not getting a phone call from his wife. No news is actually GREAT news in this case!

The second time it happened they lost a member of thier battalion.

Your family is in my heart and my prayers.

I'm glad he's O.K., but I feel for his buddies and their families.
