Default Well I did it.

Last night I finally started the changes to my FXSTS-SE.
I had already modified the stock baffles, but I wasn't happy with the change.
- SO -
I installed the K&N filter element - You need to use both the stick-on rubber seal that comes with the filter and you also need to re-use the thickrubber gasket that isstuck on the stock element - for adequate clearance.
I installed RUSH slip-ons. Great mufflers, easy to install and they sound great.
It took me less than an hourto changethemufflers and I DID NOT remove the footrest or the muffler bracket from the bike.
I only needed a 7/16 socket (1/4"drive ratchet), a 7/16 open end wrench, and a 9/16 deep well socket (3/8" driveratchet).
The space behind the muffler bracket is limited, but up on the lift I had no problems - other than my XXL hands.
The Rush stock #to fitthe Screaming Eagle Springer is # 26401 (or 3 or 4 depending on what kind of ends)
I got the 2.00" baffles and they are plenty loud. The 2.25"onesmust sound like drag pipes.
The power difference was VERY noticable. Also very noticablenow isthe surging at low speed.
I will now have to take my bike into the dealer to have the 0903 "recall" or"Torque Smoothing Calibration"done to it to smooth out the low speed fuel delivery.
I HIGHLY recommend the Rush pipes. They only cost me about $250 and they fit great, sound great, and look great.
They are much better than any of the Screaming Eagle Slip-ons. And if you don't like the sound, for about $70 you can change the baffles to a different size.
Send me an email or PM if you have any questions - I'll try to post some pictures..
Since I have passed the 500mile break-in - this weekend I am changing to Mobil 1 in the engine, Mobil 1 gear lube in the trans, and B&M Synthetic Trick Shift in the primary.

I will try to post those pics.
The stock number for the K&N air filter is HD-0800. My local Advance Auto ordered it for me - about $57.00
Oh yea, the Rush pipes parts numberwas listed asfitting a2007 Fat Boy or Deuce.
Since I called Rush last week, they have added SE Softail Springer info to those stock numbers intheir catalogue.
The slip-ons made for the 2007 Softail Deluxe will NOT fit.
The slip-ons made for Fat Boys 2006 and before will NOT fit.
The slip-ons made for Springers will not fit either.

My local H-D dealer ordered them for me.
The slip-ons are a little smaller than the stock mufflers, so the stock muffler heat shields don't fit snug - I left them off.
