Just an idea to float around there and test the waters. But does anyone know of a group of OIF or OEF veteran riders? Probably apart of some of the larger veteran groups but I'm just curious.

Motorcycle culture has changed a lot since the mid-60s and early-70s to the point where a service member is almost expected to have a bike. Sadly, many times that include crotch rockets... I know of two military groups in Hawaii where there are at least 60+ riders, all military, and all on the little rice burners.

But on the boards, how about we get a count of those who've been to the Box (either one) or the jungle (for OEF-P). Some are wondering, OEF-P? Yes folks, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-Philippines. This war is much larger than many of you have considered.... So I'll start.

I served in Desert Storm and OIF 2. I ride with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 5 here in NH. We are veterans of all eras, but there are quite a few from OIF/OEF in the mix. Check out your states chapter at cvma.org and let em know you want to join. If your state does not have a chapter yet get one started!!

Here in Pensacola we have a replica of the VietNam wall called the Wall South.

Yesterday we had a ride that was set up by one of the 'Nam MC's. We were escorted through the city and ended up at Memorial park and the Wall. Over 700 bikes.

There were mostly 'Nam era guys but there were a hundred or so of us OIF/OEF DS riders.

Desert Storm 1990-91 & OIF 2005-06 here.

There seems to be nothing down here in South Texas, not even someone to talk to.  This sucks, get back from the sandbox again and dumped out back into civilian life.  VA is useless and my combat buddies are in the same if not worst sit.  The last six months at home seem worst the my last tour in Iraq.

Sorry and don't mean to be a downer, just wanted to vent without starting a new thread.  Didn't mean to hijack this one.

Out Here.......

Is that a deployment, or a vacation? Just asking...

I ask, because you know what a deployment is, having racked up mile on Tampa, huh?

Howdy yall. I did OIF from Feb06-Feb07. I'm now doing an OEF stint. Got here Oct07 and will be outta this place pretty dang soon!
I think it would be great to be able to ride with some folks who've had similar experiances. I'm in the same boat bro, not many people to talk to about things back home (central Texas). Most of my buddies are from other states so besides a couple phone calls or an email now and then we pretty much loose contact after a deployment. Tell ya what, like I said I get home pretty soon, maybe we could meet in the middle somewhere and bs about war and bikes. Just a thought. I hear ya about the suck back home. I spent 4 months at home before I started gearing up for this deployment and it was deffinatly harder to try to be 'normal' again than it was dealing with life in the box. Might be part of why I volunteered for another deployment, I dont know. Anyways I'll drop you a line when I get back to the Lone Star and we'll see what happens.
Later yall

5th deployment to the sandbox right now.

This is my 2nd time in Saudi
Been to Kuwait twice
Baghdad from May-Oct 06

I'm weighing out options for Veteran's clubs too. Just got to find the right one that fits in with my way of life and ways of thinking.

I don' t have as much time as most of you fellas, but I know it was difficult to reintegrate into my family life after my last 13 month deployment--but we are up and running now!

My hat is off to the men and women who are far from home right now.  It wasn't long agoI was thinking that the best years of my life are wasted in a craphole that doesn't even make the front page any more while life goes on at home.  Hang in th
