Default Trasmission shifts hard

I'm new Harley Davidson. I have an 02 Dyna Low Rider. The transmission shifts hard. I swiched from the standard Haley oil to Bell Ray gear saver 80w90 and it has help some. It is very smooth when cold. I was wondering if the 80w140 would help it shift smoother when hot. I also have tried Mobil 1 20w50 and didnt help much. Any help would be apreciated.

Default RE: Trasmission shifts hard

I personaly use synthetic, without any problems. My last bike was a wing and when I got back to HD I noticed that it shifted a lot harder than the jap bikes I was riding for the last few years, but after a few clicks, I just got used to it. If it's cruchy bring it to your local wrench, if not, just ride.

Get that Bell Ray crap out of your gearbox! Use Red Line Cushion (full synthetic) of a gear weight suited to your climate. Do not use Harley transmission oil, you will soon need to visit a dealer for service - what they are after!
