slime in a tube , anybody try it ??

Has anybody with tubed tirestried fixing a flat with one of those cans of slime or fix a flat ...whatever they are called . I run spokes and just trying to come up with emergency fixes...at least something good enough to get ya to a shop

I paid extra for my laced wheels on my bike, and after reading all the cons on the laces, for my touring bike I'm going to go with some custom mags (besides I think the 21" wheel in the front looks killer) I figure for the long trips it'll be best for me. I do love the laced wheels though.

I was told that with laced rims you can't use that sealant; it just won't work. I prefer laced wheels to mags for my style of bike, but I have not found a temporary fix for flats. Let me know if you come up with something.

Slime works fine in lacd wheels. Slime works by clogging a leak as air is escaping through the hle in the tire or tube. It is used mainly in the bicycle industry where practically all wheels are laced. I have used it to fix a flat on my RKC with spoked wheels. Now I run it in all my tires. Truck, Bke, tractor etc. No flats since. You will get a nasty look from the mechanic when replacing the tire with mag wheels as there is no tube to contain the slime.

I've had to use it twicw on two different bikes. Works great and got me home safely both times. It's not such a mess when you have tubes like you do in laced wheels......

'Slime' is not recommended for Aluminum wheels, I have been told and read on the bottle. But, the 'Ride On' stuff looks to be usefull in both tubeless and tubed tires, according to the quote on the home site.

Worth trying for touring.

There was just a long thread about it two weeks ago. Much better for your wheels than SLIME.

For what it's worth, I use the Ride-on in my tubeless tires. I can't say for sure if it's prevented any flats, but I do know that I haven't had any since installing it.
