I shopped E-bay very hard for at least 3 weeks in the hopes of finding a good deal on a SERT and boy did I snag a deal for my Stage I build on my '07 Ultra Classic.
I found a SERT, model #32107-01.........no suffix...eg..A, B, C,.....F.... and I hit the "Buy it Now" button for $249. The vendor was Brooklyn Harley Davidson and the guys there were great in shipping it expeditiously.Even these guys had no idea that you could buy the upgrade CD, Iwas kind enough to give them the part# for the upgrade CD.
The good thing about buying an older version is the cables come with it........$30 more in savings!!!!!!!!!
I then purchased the upgrade CD Part#32117-01H for $19.95 - 10% for my H.O.G membership at my local dealer and all was set.
I loaded the 32107-01 cd up on my laptop, then proceeded by loading up the upgrade CD(32117-01H) which now brought the whole software up to version 4.6, or in other words, the very latest maps to date.
Hooked up the SERT via instructions and communicated with the ECM on my bike. I then flashed the ECM with the appropriate map and BINGO!!! All is well! It worked!
I know alot of you know this already, but I just wanted to confirm that it does indeed work. I have enclosed pics of the necessary software.
SERT.......look at the date....LOL!!

Upgrade CD from HD

Now get out there and try and find an older dated SERT and snake that deal!!!!
By the way.........for those that are intimidated in flashing the ECM with the SERT........don't be. If I can do it, anybody can. Especially with the wonderful help of the guys in this forum!
So SERTs are all the same. You just have to get the latest upgrade CD which has the latest version of the software or maps?
EXACTLY! The"hardware" will work, justupgrade the software for ~$20bucks. If I had a big circle of friends that rode Harleys, I'djust borrow theupgrade CD(#32117-01H).
However, don't get one for a carbed bike if you have EFI....and visa versa....that will not work of course.
Just to reiterate, the advantage of buying an "older" version of the SERT is that the cables came with the older ones, unlike the 32107-01F's that HDsells the cables separate for $30..........unless you can borrow these as well from someone.
The only thing you have to have on your own is the actualblack SERT module............everything else you can borrow if that is an option.
If you are going to have the dealer flash your ECM with the SERT................you don't even need the upgrade CD OR the cables, the dealer has them! Just snag an older version of the SERT for a bargain that I listed and take it to your dealer and let them flash it if you don't want to do it yourself, however, it is easy as pie so save your $$$ and do it yourself. Spend the $$ on a good dyno.
Agree UltraK.. I just finished installing K&N 3909 and Vance & Haines duals with ovals. Purchased SERT the hard way (new dealer) cables are now extra as you note. Had to also purchase serial to USB connector cable. I hooked up the ol computer and after forgettiing toturn the handle bar stop/run swithch to run and a little distress this caused until I pulled my head out of my ars. Everything communicated fine. I have not downloaded the MAP yet, but everything works and the process is very easy. I just have to clean my fingerprints off the new crome exhaust, do my transmission service load the MAP, and I'm ready to hear my babys new RUMBLE.
What was your reason for getting a sert and not a pcIII?
The tuner that I'm going to use recommended it, and the fact I wanted to retain my 02 sensors. Both are good programs, just preference I guess.
ORIGINAL: FUN2XSs

Had I not read the thread by johnnyfromchicago in this forum, I would have done the same, even though the instructions make note of turning the switch on "ON"........who reads instructions anyway? I just look at the pictures...LOL!
I started out today just seeing if my SERT was going to communicate with my bike.....step 1.......but then it seemed too easy and I need to ride it to the tuner so I went ahead and flashed so I could finish my Stage I myself and ride it without it being dangerously lean and breaking something. I love doing things myself.......keeps the scratches away...LOL!
