Hey guys just a new guy that wants to say hi. I am posting a picture of a 1942 45 that I finished about 8 months ago. I found this as a basket case and rebuilt it myself. I did all the paint body everything but the motor and trans. I actually ride it here in town. I dont get on the highway because it does only 55 and that is a challenge. Besided the trucks scare the hell out me.

Welcome; you should be very proud of that 42.

That's really nice and a '42 WL is a real keeper. They didn't make a lot compared to the WLA.

Is it a WL or WLD?  Either way, like Oldtimer sed, it's a pretty rare beast.  I show 142 WLs and 133 WLDs were made in '42.

The engine number will probably tell you. 'Course that only works if it's the original engine or the old one was sent in to the factory for exchange. They used to send out exchange engines with the same numbers as the one you sent in.

Nice job on your 45. Get it out on a long straight stretch. It should do about 70 mph. I guess it depends on your gearing.

Hi also brand new here. Great looking Bike! I am just doing up a 1942 WLC and my painter wanted to know what primer they used under Olive Drab. Also, is today's Canadian Army drab the same color as what was used in 42? Seems to me Olive drab hasn't changed, but.
Thanks for any input

Beautiful ride! hell just stay on two lane blacktop and you'll be fine. IMHO all these bikes that want to go fast miss the best part of the ride...the ride getting there.
