I'm not knocking the team for say. It's just that Brodeur
is one of those goalies that steps it up a notch or two
in the playoff. All the rest of the team needs to do is score
a few goals and not worry about the pipes.

Cool...to be honest, I'd feel better if they scored a little more.  I've watched just about all of their games this year and it apears their style of play forces other teams to be more responsible defensively.

Growing up in CT, I was a big Whalers fan but when they moved my interest in the game fell off for awhile. I was too bitter and couldnt get into that whole Carolina thing *insert whine*

Now that I've relocated to MA, and my wife and co-workers are Bruins fans, I've found myself going to alot of Bruins games and taking interest in their club. So yeah, I guess you can consider me a Bruins fan now. I know, sometimes I find it hard to beleive when I think back to that old Adams division rivalry. I loved those games.  Man I was excited when the rumors of the Penguins maybe moving to Hartford were circulating

Gordie Howe and Ron Francis were favs of mine back then

But for the Bruins, I like Savard and Murray..oh and Bochensky(sp) too!

I (a huge Devils fan) was at that game last night and was watching (albeit from the nose bleed seats) Janssen when he mad that hit.  It occured SLIGHTLY behind the play (not like the Domi hit on Neidermeyer way behind the play in 2000), tolerable in terms of todays NHL, and from my angle appeared to be a clean hit.  Janssen was not on the ice at all after that. The incident seemed to inspire the Leafs.

I heard Vegas was looking at the Pens? Either way its said to see a storied team leave a storied sports town. But they need the money to stay afloat I guess.

I now pronounce the religion of Canuckism

we are of polytheistic worshiping many gods, and like many religions those gods have different roles in our faith

THE GODS WE WORSHIP

if we are having a hard time, and need to be saved, we call upon the power of Roberto Luongo, who will get in the path of anything threatening to take us down a notch

When you are entering into an activity when only the most exact movements are needed, then prayers must be given to the god of Precision, Markus Naslund, he will guide your hand true. Surgeons and engineers all keep portraits of the Naslundian one on their walls, and bruhaha to him regularly.

When we are lacking direction and we need a strong minded person to show us the way, we call upon the power of Trevor Linden, who's advice always guides Canucks fan truly

The god of war is Jeff Cowan, every time there is fighting or violence, you know that red haired man is laughing from above at the mayhem is created. You can honor the Cowanian one by sacrificing the immortal bra

and the Monkey king is Matt Cooke, when something doesn't seem quite right, like you slip on a banana peel or get hit by a stray cream pie, you know that the Cooke has been operating

The God of Speed is indeed Brendan Morrison. If you are ever running behind schedule, or need to get to a different location quickly and safely, then look no further the the god of Speed. Many people keep a portrait of god Morrison in their cars, and benefit from his good will daily.

and last but not least, there is the god of brotherly love, what binds families like nothing else? It's all the power of the Sedins, they say Confucius based his teachings off the lives of the Sedins

OUR COMMANDMENTS:

1. Thou shalt worship the Canucks 82 times a year, by engaging in a sitting position facing a radio, television, computer or gm place Ice surface
2. Thou shalt make a journey, or Hajj to general motors place, the supreme place of worship once in your life.
3. Thou shalt donate a portion of your earnings to Canucks merchandise, including car flags, jerseys and puck heads
4. Thou shalt not use the Canucks name in vain

there are only 4 commandments, one for every playoff round needed to win the ultimate religious artifact: the holy grail of Canuckism: the Stanley Cup.

BAPTISM OUT OF FIRE

If ye were born in Vancouver, a baptism is for naught. Being born a Canucks fan, you have proven your eternal faith purely through your existance

however, if ye were born in the land of flames and brimstone, Calgary: thou shalt commit to a ritual to clense the evil blood the city has emparted onto you.

The ritual is simple: wear a Canuckism certified piece of merchandise, may it be a hat with a logo on it or a jersey, for 24 hours, a time frame which includes no less then one occurance of a Canuck's showcase of their power.

THE CANONIZATION OF GREAT GODS PAST

When a great Canuck god leaves, he is canonized and becomes a saint, as of now we have 3 saints, Saint Bure, Saint McLean and Saint Smyl. On January 28th, March 31st, and June 26th we set aside work to remember these past heroes.

THE MESSIAH OF CANUCKISM

The lords of the Ice have assigned a mortal pope, a messiah, who has brought the word of Canuckism to the masses. and I AM THAT MESSIAH

and now I ask, who has the courage, who has the everlasting faith to be my followers and disciples? I BEQUEATH YOU!

ADDITIONAL BOOKS OF CANUCKISM

From the Book of ttown:

I shall follow thou to the promised land. I shall never doubt in my gods or my religion and my soul will never rest until the Holy Grail is in our possesion.

From the Book of Villiage:

The holy moving images of 94' shall be our bible. And we will consult it for all truths. It shall teach hope, humility, courage and all shall come to vilify the great beast, known as the 'east'.

its on now let the playoffs begin, cant wait for the flames to eliminate the perennial playoff failure red wings( a cancer like bertuzzi is not an advantage in the playoffs but a hindrance) as they have never beaten calgary in a playoff series and seem to like getting removed yearly by an alberta team. no offence but the canucks are only as deep as their goalie and the sedin sisters will be null and void as playoff hockey is tough and they are not. anyhoo if not the flames in the west i would give the nod to the sharks ( toughness, goaltending, three lines deep) and out in the east im hoping for the youngins on the pens to do some damage as well as the sabres.

oh yeah hahahahahahahahaha maple leafs out of the playoffs:) :) :) might actually get to see some teams worth watching on the erly cbc feed

go flames go

OK, I'll go out on a limb...my predictions:

EAST
Buffalo v. NYI - Buffalo in 4 (Buffalo is REAL quick & Nolan pi$$es me off)
NJD v. TB - NJD in 6 (Of course, I'm a Devils fan)
Atlanta v. NYR - Atlanta in 6 (See above)
Ott v. Pit - Ott in 6 (Ott has better D)

WEST
Det v. Calgary - Det in 5 (Det can't choke AGAIN??)
Anaheim v. Minn - Anaheim in 6 (I like Minn, but the Ducks are strong)
Van v. Dallas - Van in 7 (Good match up)
Nashville v SJ - SJ in 6 (Coin toss; but I think Nashville is a little over rated)

Good picks, I think you are right on the money.  After watching my Wild get tossed around like rag dolls last night I don't think they have a chance.  You need to get across the blueline before you can score!

As much as I despise the Cansucks, they just find ways to win.  Even when they stink they still win.

Playoffs are all about goaltending and Pittsburgh may have a great offense but their D stinks and their goalie is not a playoff goalie.

Buffalo is the total package, I think they take it all.

No, way...the East is soft...The RedWings are going to pound everyone on the way to bringing the Cup back to HockyTown where it belongs.   And the squid thing is because they have eight legs and it signifies the 8 games you used to have to win to win the Stanley Cup way back in the old days.  I think it also is for the Original 8 Teams...

NJ Devils fan...played till I was 42/43...now it's fun to see my 5 yr old nephew skate and play....yeah, Stevens may be the ultimate hit man, but, I really liked Daneko for playing every game like it was his last....back in 71 or 72, a friend from Boston sends me a bumper sticker, if I remember right it says Jesus saves and Espo tips in the rebound...

first off   the squid thing is actually an octopus thing. the significance of it is back before there were so many teams in the nhl a team had only to win  8 games to win the stanley cup 8 arms 8 wins. secondly there were only originally 6 teams in the nhl , montreal, ny rangers, boston, toronto, detroit, and chicago. hence the "original six". I live in Hockey Town. Known to the rest of the world as mo town motor city  or detroit. We love our red wings here. Roy the greatest goalie ever ? more like the biggest dick head ever. remember he used to play for the habs? detroit scored 11 goals on him and he threw a fit right there in front of the owners sitting behind the bench and was promptly traded to the nordiques. roy pronounced waaaaah. boo hoo bitch. greatest goalie ever? any of those old guys that would stop the puck with their face for 3,000 a year. the greatest player ever was gordie howe. no one even comes close. gretzky? gordie is 78 years old now and would still kick the shit out of that cherry picker. play offs this year ...... i watched mclennan attack franzen yesterday wiyh his goalie stick.two minutes later iginla spears matthew schneider and then cross checks him in the middle of the back. a real class those flames are. that is the kind of stuff that happens when you pussify the game and take fighting out .if those guy knew that they would have to pay for their actions by having the crap kicked out of them for doing that how readily would they have used their sicks as wapons then? if i take a stick and use it as aweapon i face felony assault charges . if any of you don't think that the wings are not now the most motivated team in the play offs bring your team on and see where lord stanleys cup makes it's round of th bars after it's all said and done with. i drank from it once and i'll do it again this year......... 4 lines thatcould be first lines on most clubs. adios sukas.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    REDWINGS!!!!! DETROIT WHERE THE WEAK ARE KILLED AND EATEN.
