Bruins.

I was 8 years old when Bobby Orr won the Cup against St Louis. Still waiting.............

I play in a men's league 2x a week year round.

Wish it had a better national following.  Without a doubt it;s the best way for a 44 year old guy to stay in shape.

Never quite understood the "squid" thing in Detroit.  My mom's Italian and I'd ratehr eat calamari than throw it on the ice. :)

Favorite player has to be Ken Hodge.  I palyed in a charity game against the Bruins alumni.  Lots of my heroes from the 70's and 80's - Hodge, Bucyk and Don Marcotte.  It was  a blast.

Looks like you'll be waiting even longer.  Really thought the "B's" would be in the hunt this year since they picked up Chara, some others and shored up the "D"

Wish it had a better following as well. You think it would...big dudes, on ice, with sticks hitting a frozen piece of rubber upwards of 90 mph.  I appreciate all that plus the quick thinking involved.

Love the sport, played for years. Favorite team is the Vancouver Canucks, favorite player used to be Pavel Bure (until he retired), current favorite player Markus Naslund.

The NHL had a chance to improve upon the rules and they blew it. I like to watch the game for what it is but there is simply too much fighting. As a Bruin's fan Orr and Espo.

Fighting really has dropped off in the last 7-10 years don't you think?  Additionally, with the new rules the game really is much quicker.  I believe the NHL is headed in the right direction...not as many close, BS calls as there was last year.  I think it will get better.

NHL...the BEST of the four major leagues, IMHO.   Sabres fan here, replanted in the South of the USA (Hurricanes are the local fav, if locals like hockey), but please refrain from the NO GOAL or WIDE RIGHT stuff.  This is our year to wipe all of that away.
You Bruins fans are ugly.  j/k.

Hockey!!!
Now you're talking. Lived my hole life in Montreal. The most
decorated team in all sports "The Canadians". I laced up my
skates at 4 years old and always wanted to be Guy Lafleur.
My all time favorite though has to be Mario Lemieux.

That's right.  Show me a hockey player with all his teeth, and I'll show you a guy who's not trying hard enough.

Ranger and Flyer fans are the ugliest!!

I cheer for the Senators now, but was raised to cheer for the Canadiens.  And better my sister a hooker than my brother a Maple Leaf.  It is hard living near Toronto.

Sharks fan. But they better start playing like they have desire.

Unfortunately for the NHL, the TV can't really be appreciated until you've seen a game in person. The speed doesn't translate to TV.

And play ? I can barely skate. And since my upper jaw was shattered when I lost my teeth, getting hit again wouldn't be a good thing.

You say the next best goaltender ever. Just curious.
Who's the best?
Patrick Roy perhaps.

I agree with you on live hockey at the rink. TV games show the puck when the game is the whole surface, not just where the puck is. It is 'where it is going to be' that matters next.

I like a goalie that will go toe to toe with the other teams tough guy.  Way to go "Sugar" Ray Emery.

Crazy...if you go by stats, sure, Roy's probably the best.  BUT Marty has already passed a good portion of those records and I'm sure, if he stays healthy, he'll destroy all of them.  Brodeur has at least 10 more good years left in him and within the next few years will be known as the best all time!

Your avatar.........  Do you realize that today is the 30th anniversary of the movie Slap Shot?

I live in Johnstown, PA.  The movie was based on the Johnstown Jets of the 1970s and isn't too far from the truth relative to how the game was played back then.

A true movie classic!!!!

While I can't disagree with you ( I haven't seen the scrap ), if I had all the padding and gear on that goalies wear, I'd feel a little tougher myself.

Amen to the Luongo comment, he is one of the reason they got to be one of the top favorites to make the Stanley Cup. His superior goaltending along with their defense (PK is 5% better than the next closest team) not to mention they are starting to score goals. GO CANUCKS.

Easy with the destroy man. I've got to agree with you
about Brodeur though. He is absolutely the best goalie in
the NHL at the moment. Bar none. Although I hate to admit
it. He already has and will beat most of Patricks records. I
guess they put something in the water here in Montreal that
produces great goalies.

Calgary Flames fan, stranded in Edmonton!!   Favourite player at the moment; Jerome Iginla. Gotta love Iggy. One of the few guys in the league nowadays that actually seems to love the game more than the paycheque. Despite my penchant for the Flames though (and my natural distaste for the Oilers, despite living in Edmonton...) I was shocked they traded Ryan Smyth to the Islanders today. He was the heart & soul of team, if you ask me. Any guy that takes a puck in the mouth, and is back on the ice ten minutes later, has all my respect forever. Oiler be damned! (May God forgive me for saying so!! LOL) Hockey IS the greatest game EVER! Bar none.
