I have an '06 Wideglide with 5,200 miles and I'm getting close to needing a back tire already?? Is that normal? I watch the tire pressure very closely. I don't ride itthat hard, some canyon riding but not all the time. Not much 2up riding.. a little. Old linclon's head is almost showing!! Dealer didn't say anything at the 5k service except to ask if I check the pressure often, and I do. 36lb, 40lb for 2up. And 30lb in the front. Funny, after the service they put 36lb in BOTH tires! Nice.
I know around here (South Florida) if you get 6K out of a rear tire your doing good. The rubber they are using for the tires is a real soft rubber which holds good but doesn't last long.
I have 7k on the rear tire of my Heritage Classic and it will need replacing soon. Most of my riding is 2 up and I don't ride hard. Always keep pressure at specs of 40 # for 2 up riding. I guess 7-8K is all Ill ever get. Front still has plenty.
Interesting, I have an 1/8th of an inch of tread left on my stock dunlop andover 14,500miles on my '05 FXST. I have a new tire already, just waiting on the wheel that it is going on with. and I'm not the best about checking the tire pressure, maybe onceevery other week...
I have an '05 Roadking Custom. I got 15K from my original rear, then put on an Avon and got 15K from it. I am on my second Avon. I still have my original front tire but it is getting thin. I have 31K on my bike right now.
really depends on the type riding you do.
Two up vs solo.
Long Trips vs bar hopping
quick starts/stops
road temp
many things play into tire wear.
I find it hard to believe some get 10K from a rear tire and some only 5K. That is definately rider related. IMHO.
I get around 10K on a rear and 18K on a front...which i think is normal
i have 05 wide, and have 11000 on both tires and can prob go thru summer on them, i don`t understand how people only get 5 to 8 thou miles and i ride pretty damn aggresive no burnouts but like twesties, i think my front could go another 5000 miles
