Default Stiff shifting to 2nd when cold?

I've got an 01 Fatboy I picked up last summer. One of the first things I did was change all the fluids, since you never know when you buy a used bike. Well I noticed this fall that when the bike is cold it takes a little more effort to shift from 1st to 2nd. As soon as I put a few miles on it, it loosens up and shifts normally. I switched the tranny fluid from 20w50 to 85w/140 when Ichanged the fluids. Is this something I should worry about or am I good to go?

Sounds normal to me. I just take it easy during the first several 1st to 2nd gear shifts until the bike warms up.

I occasionally have the same problem with my Fatboy. I always attributed it to storing it in our garage and dampness. After the 1st initial shift (if I can get it into 2nd, it is fine). Sometimes it worse than other times, and then sometimes it does stick at all. It confuses me too.

In case of normal transmission oil , HD recommends 80W90 GL-4 .
I think the viscosity of the 85W145 is to high .
