Default Yellowstone

I am planning a trip to Yellowstone the week before Sturgis. I am staying in Cooke City Sunday through Thursday and riding back on Friday. We have never been before. We are dropping the trailer at our campground in Sturgis and riding there by way of the beartooth highway. Any suggestions on rides, where to eat and drink and things not to miss on the way or once we get there?

The Boiling River. It's a hot spring that mixes with the Gardner river, you can soak in. It's a couple of miles north of the Mammoth Hot Springs area and a short hike in. Bring a bathing suit.

click search up at the top and type in "yellowstone". There have been lots of postings on the very topic you're asking about.

rt 296 chief joseph scenic highway. runs into beartooth. both outstanding. best steaks in montana at the grizzly bar in roscoe, about 20 clicks from red lodge. keep gas in the tank. there is a fuel stop on beartooth, but they were dry when i passed by. you'll love this area.

My favorite route from Yellowstone to Sturgis (after Chief joseph and Beartooth) is Hwy 14A from Lovell to Sheridan. It crosses over the Sheephorn Mnts and is a GREAT ride! Catch Devils Tower just northeast of Gillette Wy.

From Cooke City ride through Yellowstone Park and on to Jackson Hole WY. The view of the Teton mtn rangeis beautiful and the town of Jackson is a neat place to spend a day. You can also ride the ski lift to the top of the mtn from downtown Jackson. Warning it is quite touristy. Be a good day ride. Enjoy your ride.
