So a couple of weekends ago, we had this Miracle Mile Ride that benefitted a Children's Hospital. Over 5,000 Bikes of all kinds but predominantly Harleys attended. Met a lot of Bikers I haven't encountered before and had a great time. So after the Ride was over, some of us met up for a few laughs, beers & hotdogs and this conversation started about Dynas vs SoftTails. The sensus was, most of the guys think the softtail family makes better looking bikes but the dyna family out performs all. I happen to lthink the Dynas are nicer looking and perfom better. I haven't modified my engine as yet and still can outrun one friend who has an 06 Nighttrain and another friend who rides a Softtail Standard.
But I'll tll ya'll a little secret, for those who might race a 1/4 Mile every now & then, it's all about the Heart my Friends. You can race anybody and beat them if your heart is bigger. Fear is a good thing but it has no place in racing. Bcuz, it will tend to make you back off a tad at any point where you start to feel your frontend wobble a bit. I trust my skills and I trust my Ride.
So my Q is this, Have any of you heard guys trying to tell you the Dyna is a lower class of Harley?
Part of the reason I "DIG" my Dyna is because there are not alot out there. One of the guys at my job keeps asking me when am I going to go bigger? But, why would I want to go bigger... and SLOWER? This is it for me, I really like my ride. To each their own... I am going keep riding my Dyna, in the front of the pack that is!
it was my understanding sportsters were the second class citizens. oh no i got it wrong, we're the second class citizens, sportsters are the red headed step children. my bad. like em all but wanted to be able to have a bike that performed the best all around for how i like to ride. dyna fit the bill perfectly. won't be the last time i ride a second class citizen. ha ha.

She looks brand new. How do you clean her or have you broke a K yet ? Nice and Sleek looking Machine and I really like that Solo seat. Was that Stock becuz I'm thinking I mught wanted to apply it to my Bike.
I certainly haven't heard that , especially from a softail owner. Bagger boys give me a well meaning nudge that some day I'll move up , but it's all well meaning.
I personally prefer the dynas for a couple reasons. One is the fact that I can see the rear shocks...I've always like that look. I also love the rake and wide front end of the wide glide along with the bobtail rear fender. Now, I would love to have a softail...but not for everyday cruising.I would love to have a softail standard and make it into a chopper style of bike for shows, or for quick trips. IMO, the softail was made a softail to make it look like ahardtail...or that chopper look.So I guess it is a hardail wannabe. Now, a cheaper version of the big engine HD would be the superglide...not a second class type of bike...just the type of bike that you buy andfix it the way you want to...kinda likea softail standard. IMHO, I haven't owned Harleys for speed and handling...I've bought them for cruising. If I wanted speed and handling I would have gone with e Buell or even a bullet bike. It is true, a superglide will not hit your wallet as hard as a softail if you want to get into a Harley...and a sportster will hit your wallet even less...but who cares, the fact that HD builds so many different models is to try and fit consumer's budget, personalities, and styles.
