Default 1982 Dealer Edition

I met a guy with 65 motorcycles in this collection yesterday. He had lots of 30 year old bikes that were brandnew with zero miles on them.

Anyways, he had a 1982 Dealer Special. I believe it was an FXS and it was in gold color. He said there was only 44 ever made and they were never sold to the public. The bike only had three miles on it. I wish I could have taken pictures of this stuff there....but I did not have the camera with me and the bikes were all packed in very tight.

Anyone heard of a Dealer Special in 1982?

I've never heard of it but would not doubt it was made. I always enjoy checking out the vintage stuff. I am currently restoring a 82 FXRS myself. Go back & get some pictures!!!!!!!!!

I always love to see really old vehicles in new condition

but it makes me kind of sad to hear that they were never ridden ... seems like such a huge waste - think of all the potential great rides those bikes could have had, and yet still be kept in new condition

once a vehicle is that old, chances are it won't ever really be ridden, even if it's sold to a new owner

on a side note ... I wonder if he changes the oil on each of them every 3 months like he's 'supposed' to (regardless of miles)

The 1982 dealer addition was to celebrate the Motor Company's leveraged buy-out in 1981 from AMF.
