Default My free side mounted curve license plate mod

Another mod to share, I did a side mounted plate bracket today and relocate my fork bag again. I cut a flat piece of metal 9 inches long and 3/4 wide, measure your own license plate size, it may vary. I heat up 1 inch off the end, twist it 90 degree, shape the long side to curve, I made it close to the rear fender curve line. Drill the top and the plate mounting holes, spray paint it black, done deal. I mount it on the last torx bolt behind the left turn signal. I put my fork bag above where the old license plate was just to cover the holes, it turned out nice. By the way, the auxiliary brake light above the plate works fine, it shines right on the license plate, save me $20 for led stripe. A picture tells a million word, don't ask me how to bend and shape it, look at the picture, you should be able to figure it out.

NOTE: Just to make it clear, use it as your own risk, I am not trying to tell you to break the law, vertical mounted plate is illegal in many states and countries, if you get a ticket, don't ask me to pay for it. Alex

Much better. I like the bag further down. License plate looks great!!! I did something similar with my Jeep TJ. Removed the license plate bracket, drilled the tub, and rounded the plate around the rear corner. Your plate reminded me of that.

I don't know if this is true or not,but I was told that in Ohio the plate has to be upright and readable from behind.Seeing that yours is mounted sideways you might get pulled over here.

Rusty, it could be a bad angle in the picture, I had my buddy rode behind me to see the lights and he said they were fine, not blocked. After I find a way to cover the 3 old plate bracket holes, I might put it back behind the seat. You never know! [8D]
