Hi All,
Quick question on My clutch on A 65 pan. Why would it be that when I squeeze the clutch and then let off it is not releasing? I greesed the Fitting on the Mousetrap and it does not seem to be hanging there. But it does not go back to its original position.Does my clutch rod need adjustment? It is dangerous to my health when that baby does not release when I want it to! ANy help would be a appreciated.

The Mousetrap spring is too tight or your clutch spings are too loose. If the clutch is not slipping try adjusting the overcenter spring on the mousetrap (try 1/2 turn loose at a time)
Here is another symptom for you all to consider. when the bike is not running and I squeeze the clutch lever it releases fine. When the bike is running it hangs and does not release.
Thats odd, Go ahead and try adjusting the overcenter spring. If it still coes not help you may want to open the primary and take a look, your pushrod, or main shaftmay be bent, I can't think of anything other than that, that would cause that one.
Ran home at lunch today and tightened the clutch springs 3/4 of a turn and it seems to have fixed the problem. They seemed to be really loose. I haven't had time to look at the service manual but is there a torque spec on those? or how tight is to tight? when I say loose one felt like there was almost no resistance at all.
You need to measure from the outer edge of the spring coller to the pressure plate (HD calls it the outer disc) 31/32"
I'm glad you found your problem.
