Default $3000 off MSRP?

Guys, I reading a article in the paper today talking about how dealers really need to move 2007 inventory now. Sales were weaker then expected. Tommarrow is 6/30 the end of the peak selling quarter for HD. I was thinking I might make a offer of $3000 off msrp and see what they say(assuming they have something good to buy in stock). If they say no, I will just leave it alone. Anyone ever try to buy at the 11th hour at the end of the quater or month? I have always heard they do deals that"no one gets" at the last second.

You might be able to get them to drop $1000 But I doubt you'll get anymore than that. But what have you got to lose.

Even at $3000.00 below MSRP they are still making a killing. Doubt you will get them to go that low. They have a rep to keep up you know! Doesn't hurt to try, good luck.

When I use to sell cars, we would always deal more at the end of the month. Just to show the sales numbers increase. $3k is a lot, but they may counter at $1k or maybe even (long shot) $1.5k. And what, other than time, do you have to lose.

Local dealer near Asheville, NC has dropped freight and set-up from asking price. Sales guy told me that they will deal somewhat on top of that. They don't have a have a lot of stock, and I doubt they would take $3000 off a base EG, but you may get closer on an Ultra.

I got over $1500 off the sticker back in March on my RK Classic. It was the only one in the area and they knew it. I had been stalking the dealer for a while so they knew I was very serious. As always I'm sure I could have gotten a better deal and I should haveprobably started at around $3k off sticker but hindsight is 20/20.
I'm still happy with my deal and my ride.
If I were you I would start at $4k off sticker and go from there. You are in the catbird seat as you don't really need the bike. If they won't deal then you won't be out anything.
