I put a PCIII on my Street Glide (injected), and I also have the Stage I intake, Stage I ECM download and Hooker Tuned-flow slip-ons. The bike runs excellent now that I have have installed the PCIII. I'm just using the canned map for my setup and it seems to be very close to optimal. However, I'm having a problem starting my bike. Before I installed the PCIII, it would fire up instantly in any conditions (cold, hot, whatever). Since I've installed the PCIII, it now takes about 3 or 4 seconds of cranking the engine before it fires if the engine is cold. If the engine is hot, it fires right up. Anyone else with a PCIII run into this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
I have a 06 Road King Custom with a stage 1 upgrade ECU, SE slip ons640903-99 and the SE air box. After I installeed the PCIII it takes turning over 5 or 6 times to fire up when it was instant before. I do believe the problem is with the map installed. It turns out it is for a stock ecu with upgrades. I am looking for some other maps now. I will let you know if downloading another on changes this. I will be dyno tunning after Christmas anyway.

Thanks for the responses. I tried downloading a different map, still no help on startup. It still takes about 3 or 4 seconds of cranking to start the bike when cold. I've spoken to the tech folks at Dynojet who make the Power Commander. They told me that the PCIII should have no effect whatsoever on startup. The reason for this is that the PCIII is designed not to function at all until the bike has turned at least 50 revolutions.
I have a theory, but don't know how valid it is. At the same time that I installed the PCIII, I also had disconnected the battery for another project. I'm wondering if the inevitable (but minor) sparking which occurs when reconnecting the battery actually messed up something on the bike, completely unrelated to the PCIII. It's like something in the cold starting circuit isn't working. Perhaps the solenoid on top of the throttle body? It may be that the PCIII has nothing to do with my starting issues at all. That's the problem doing multiple projects at the same time. If something goes wrong, it can be difficult to isolate the problem. The Dynojet tech has offered to send me a replacement PCIII, but I don't see how that would help if the PCIII doesn't even kick in until the bike has turned 50 revs. By the way, the customer service at Dynojet is outstanding.
The bike still runs beautifully, much better than before I installed the PCIII. If only I could figure out the starting problem. Anyone else out there experience starting problems like mine after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery? Thanks again for all of your help.

Doug I have exact same problem. The only difference between my setup and yours is that I have SE slip-on pipes and probably a different canned map. I bought this up on a different forum a couple of weeks ago and several people told me the problem is probably with the map and I should have it dyno'd. There were a couple of other people who responded that they were having slow starting problems after installing a PCIII. Dynojet may deny that the PC has anything to do with it but when you have several people experiencing the same problem after installing a PCIII than it must be effecting it somehow. BTW which map are you using?
Thanks for the response. I'm using map# M807-161. It's for my exact setup. For what it's worth, the bike runs flawlessly. It runs so well that I'm not even going to go the dyno route. It's just that stupid starting problem which is annoying me. The bike will always fire, but it shouldn't take 3 seconds of cranking for that to happen. It should fire instantly. I think that I'm going to take up Dynojet's offer and have my PCIII swapped out for free.

I may try the MAP you are using since the only difference is the pipes. I'm still getting a little decel popping and occasional backfiring. It's much better since I installed the PCIII but I think my bike can run a little more smoother. I think I'm still running too lean. I don't want to have it dyno'd now because I am considering changing pipes and maybe go the true dual route next Spring. If I get dyno'd now it will be a waste. I can't speak for Doug but I disconnected mine and it started right up as it always have before I installed the PCIII. For some reason the PCIII causes a delay in my bike firing up.
