WhenI decide to take my tour pak off and give my Ultra that "Ultra" Street Glide look I pull up to a mess of guys on a cross country ride and wishI had my full blooded Ultra back. Then once I put everything back on, one of the guys I ride with decide to get either a new "Bar Hoppin" style bike or some new sportier parts and here I am lookin like Ole Gramps taggin along. Anyone else switch back and forth alot? This is my 3rd switch out

Switch 'em all the time. Not one of the guys that will "get used to the Tout Pak and just leave it on". My 2007 Street Glide is a TRANSFORMER! Look I like best around town when alone is the Mustang Solo (with or without backrest, depending on how long I'm out) and Motherwell rack over rear fender. 2nd best look is stock seat for around town with my 13 year old son or another passenger (working on that!) with detach passenger backrest. 3rd look for long hauls is Sundowner 2up seat with detachable TourPak mounted, locked and loaded. Couple of screws and BAM! Really like leaner and cleaner look, only using Tour Pak when I need storage or passenger comfort.

I also removed the crash bars and use Kuryakyn Mark IV Cruise Arms for hiway pegs. Way cleaner than the crash bars.

I do it all the time. I know exactly what you mean. I timed nyself, can get it done in under 3 minutes. Seat and tour pack, add an extra 2 minutes for short windshield and another 15 if the lowers have to go on or off!!

Great to have the option!!!

I have a Road King Custom, 2 up touring seat, passenger backrest, tour pak, detachable fairing, detachable windshield,solo seat, luggage rack, fended bib. I can change all of this detachable stuff in less than 10 minutes. Makes many combinations of the same great bike depending on how I feel, where I am going and who I'm riding with.

These kinds of things have kept me from getting tired of my bike and impulsively trading one in, many many times. At this point the extent of my options are to remove the lower fairings with the Rivco quick detach kit, swap out either the Mustang Daytripper or HD Badlander low profile seats for the Sundowner, and either go with as low as the 4" shield, but typically no lower than 7", in exchange for a 9" Cee Bailey standard or a 13' Cee Bailey SSC. Sometimes I even put the full whip antenna back on

The cool thing is with the seats and windshields, (and lower fairings, although I don't take them off often), you generally get a whole different ride. Windshields are my real OCD issue. I've got so many types and sizes I won't mention them

In fact I've got my 3rd SSC or order now, an 11" to go with my 9" and 13" one's.I don't know why, but when I decide to put thea taller windshield on for more comfort, I inevitably see a group of guys on Street Glides or Electras with 4-6" windshields or visa versa. The other night I put the Sundowner on for a fairly long ride with my wife, put the 9" windshield, from my standard 7" on and it really felt like I was riding someone elses bike, both performance, sound and look. If I had a detach tour pack I'm sure I'd really get nutty. When I had my Fatboy I had detach leather HD bags, and King size windhshield. Sometimes I liked it fully dressed, other times stripped down. The one thing about my SG, even though I love it, is that the best of all worlds would be a detachable fairing, with hard bags so I could go completely without a windshield, ala the Road King Customer pictured above.

But it is nice to know what I can do when I want to. I just don't let others dictate my preferences. Nice to have a choice.

One month after I got my 99 EG Classic I made the tourpak 'detachable'. Put it back on maybe 3 times the 6 years I had the bike. Was nice to have the option though.

I leave my 'Glide totally dressed. If I feel like going "undressed" I'll ride the FXRS.

I'm one that likes the look of a short wind deflector and my HD "Exotic" leather seat for local runs on my Road Glide (see signature below). I add my detachable back rest when the wife comes with me. That set up looks "cool" but when it comes to the long haul, 2 up and the need for more storage, my Sundowner seat, detachable back restand detachable tour pack are just a few minutes away. I also have several windshields, the latest being a Clearview 14" with recurve. Change is good!!

Two windshields; all of the above optionsplus a solo detachable tour pak so I can use it as a backrest on longer trips and don't need the space or look of the King TP on the two-up detachable rack.
