The new CB radio's in 06 and newer transmitt with so much noisethey can barely be understood by other people. 3 different dealers agree there is something wrong but can't seem to fix it. Does anyone have a fix or advise.

My cb radio works fine.No complaints of noise from other riders or cagers.Didn't the dealers offer to exchange the radio unit for another one?

Sorry I did't describe the noise. It is if your TV were tuned to a channel with no station, I think people refer to it as "WHITE NOISE". I ride with a group of 6 bikes, 3 05's and 3 06's. The 05's are perfect and all 3 06's have the noise. A dealer did swap radio's and it didn't help. Harley help line puts the dealers on hold and tells them they know nothing.

Have the Service department at your dealership contact Steve Simpson (Steve.Simpson@harley-davidson.com)inTech Services atHarley-Davidson Motor Company. Steve was very helpful in resolving my issues with the HK CB.

If it's white noise, tighten up the squelch. Where do you have the squelch set?

It is my understanding that squealch only affects receiveing not transmission. But I have tried anyway. From Min to Max makes no difference.

White Noise on the receiving station only when you key your radio? I would look at the microphone connection. Has it always done this or has it been gradualy getting this way or did it start all of a sudden?

My bad - I thought the white noise was on receive. Does the transmit noise occur while you are not moving? If it does, get a new radio. To be sure, pull the headset, mike, and transmit a dead carrier - that way, you'll at least isolate the problem, but, sure sounds like you have another bad Karmon Hardon.

I had my radio unit fixed by Santa Cruz HD after getting some advice from the HD Forum. The fix was replacing a chip in the radio itself, noisy CB radio transmissions were fixed. Matter-of fact there were 3 of us in the Santa Cruz HOG group that had bought 06 Ultras and all had the same problem. SCHD replaced the chip in all three radio units under warranty.

Also go to http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/moar/en/software.asp to get the software updates for the harmon kardon

As Tbradley posted: Have the Service department at your dealership contact Steve Simpson (Steve.Simpson@harley-davidson.com) inTech Services at Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Steve was very helpful in resolving my issues with the HK CB.

After SCHD replaced the chip, I was a happy camper and especially those who were listening to my noisy transmissions.
