Hey thanks DPNE, they are great shots, any way we can make them a little bigger, having trouble getting a real good look at it. Have you been happy with them, do they blend really well or are they pretty noticeable? It looks fine from here but the pics are pretty small.

If you want some bigger pics just IM me or shot me an e-mail and I'll send them that away. I have not even been on a ride yet. The bike has been sitting in the garage since I took ownership. It has 1 mile on it. I broke my leg snowboarding on Jan 1 so It was just last week that I started walking without crutches and it has not been above 25 degree here since I got the bike. And I am a warm weather rider. So i'm going to have to wait atleast until later this month or into April. Will

Man, sorry about the leg. I bet its killing you not being able to ride. It's 70 degrees here today and my Rockers not due until probably April. Good luck with the leg.

Bike looks good with the bags! Hey here's probably a dumb question, but has anyone put an engine guard on their Rocker? I know it doesn't really match the style of a custom, but I would hate to see the damage if you dropped it. If so, I'd like to see a pic. My Rocker is supposed to be here in about a week.

Ok, I stopped by a buddy's house the other night, and his wife snapped some quick pictures for me. Enjoy.

Trying to post picts of my rocker c --- black with bags and low smoke screen--, but it says the file is too large? Turned the cam down to 2 meg and it still would not go. Is there another way? Keep it simple as I am not good with computers. Dave

You will have to resize your pictures on your computer if you have a program that will do it. If not, go to www.photobucket.com and get yourself a free account. You can upload photos to it and they will automatically resize them. Then you can just insert the link to them here.

hey rocketman, are that the vance and hines big radius exhaust? thats what i want to put on my rocker,so i called them in jan.the tech guys said that they didnt have an exhaust for the rocker, something about the oil tank and the liability, paint damage, and oil temps getting to high above normal operating temps.do you see a problem with any of this,or do you think they are just trying to get more money for a new design exhaust for us with the rocker thanks barry

Barry, I don't see any issue with engine oil overheating due to the pipes being too close to the tank. In fact, nothing on the pipes is any closer to the oil tank on the Rocker, than they would be on ANY Softail..... BUT....the reason they can't claim any of their pipes fit the Rocker is because the rear of the frame, where the swingarm sits between the frame rails, is substantially wider than any other Softail. The bracket they sell with the pipes WILL NOT work in it's stock form. I had to take the bracket to a vise and bend it inward so the pipes would bolt up to it. It works fine, now, but it's not perfect. That is actually what causes the rear of my pipes to be closer together than they should be. I plan on making a new bracket that fits better, and if it works well, i'll build more for those who need them. Might be a while before I can get to it though.

I understsand Vance & Hines will not warranty the Big Radius now. They told me they were in the process of making them fit the Rocker and that they will be ready April or May. For the money I'm paying for the Rocker C I ordered, I think I'll wait. This is the 1st new bike I've bought in 35 years and I've been reading all kinds of advice and opinions from this forum. The opinions don't give me much confidence in dealing with the Dealer if warranty issues occur. Think I'll play it safe.

However if I went with the big radius instead of 2-1 I would wait because I'm sorry to have to say this Rocketman 69 but those pipes of yours just look wrong and I couldnt deal with your uneven gap between the pipes. I would have to get my money back IMHO. Thumbnail Image

I got the pipes for $200 less than retail (before knowing they didn't fit the Rocker), installed them myself, and did a quick modification to the bracket just to make them work temporarily. The only money to get back would be the purchase price of the pipes, and for what I paid, there's no point. I've been a custom steel fabricator most of my life, so I'll make a new bracket, refit the pipes with the proper spacing, and be happy that I saved $500 over what the next guy did.

rocketman thanks for the input about the oil tank issue, personally i dont blame you when the savings is that good.if i could get them for that price and had the know how of doing all that i would have done it as well. its hard when you want to do all of these different things to your new bike and nothing works on it,i didnt even think when i bought mine that nothing would be out for a while.ill just play the waiting game i guess.

No problem Barry. I didn't realize when I bought mine how different they were from the other Softail models either, but I'm learning very quickly that they are very different......(currently trying to find a side-mount plate bracket that fits this swingarm). So my new bracket for the pipes should be done today. I'll probably get it painted and baked tonight, but no time to swap out as the weather is too beautiful not to go riding. Once it is test fit and I make sure everything works as it should, I'll post up new pics. Steve - I put the V&H bracket back on the bike last night after measuring it up to make drawings for the new part, and when I put it back on, I paid special attention to the gap between the pipes. Happy to say, it's back to being even again. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Can't wait to see your new pics rocketman. That V&H exhaust is my favorite on the softails. Great to see one on a Rocker finally. Great to see your new pics with the proper spacing of the pipes. Any chance you could PM me the info to get such a good discount on those pipes? I'd lve to have a srt of them. Thanks!

I actually bought the pipes from American Classic Motors on eBay. They don't have the greatest reputation on this forum, as I guess they've been slow to ship, and don't communicate well (according to those who have posted). I bought them before I read any of those negative comments and was a bit worried to say the least, but lo and behold, UPS delivered them to my door 6 days after I paid for them. I think I did a "buy it now" and paid with PayPal on Friday morning, and I had a UPS tracking number on Saturday. Didn't show up in the UPS system until Monday, but I had them either that Thursday, or Friday. Not too shabby if you ask me. But you take your own risks in dealing with them if you choose to do so. I can only speak for my own experience with them, and it was a good one, although there was no need for communication since it was a simple, buy/pay/ship situation. If you want the link to the auction (I think it's actually just a "Buy it Now" in their eBay store), here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VANCE-HINES-BIG-RADIUS-EXHAUST-07-08-HARLEY-SOFTAIL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35573QQihZ022QQitemZ350033105571QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW $505 with free shipping is $184 cheaper (even more if you include MO state sales tax), than my Harley Dealer quoted me, and far less than I could find them anywhere else on the net. If you get them anywhere though, make sure they are for the 07-08 Softail, as the earlier Softail pipes don't have an O2 sensor bung. Hope this helps.

Im sure youll get them right. cant wait to see them. I agree about the 2-1. Mines temporary for the sound until v&h gets them fitted for Rockers and I have another small investment handy LOL.

Rocketman, you mentioned in a previous post that you might make available the new bracket you fabricated for your V&H Big Radius install. I'd sure like to purchase one from you as I just purchased the Big Radius Exhaust from Eastern Performance ($519.95 /free shipping) and would like to do the install with the proper allignment.

Once the part is installed, and I'm sure it is going to fit up properly, I'll take some pictures of the bike, and if there is enough interest, I'll consider making more for those of us who are in the same boat as you, or doesn't feel like waiting for V&H to come out with their more expensive option. I'll let you know when I get to that point, hopefully it will be within the next few days.

I guess I will be the first to post a picture of an FXCW. Picked it up yesterday and it was Minus 4 Celsuis. Couldn't stop from riding, threw on an extra set of long johns, and away we went. It is going to be an awesome summer!! [image] /image] [image] /image]

Nice rocker, Willy! Do me a favor, and get some good pics of the saddlebag support structure before you install it on the bike, if possible. And lots of pics from different angles of the structure mounted on the bike with and without the bags. By the way: Anyone who was interested in obtaining a bracket to fit the Big Radius pipes on a Rocker, or just want to see how they look now that they are properly aligned, click the link: http://www.hdforums.com/m_3037006/tm.htm

I'd like to see some pictures from the top and rear of the bike with the bags installed. How easy are they to put on and take back off? How exactly do the bags attach to the rails? Can you get pics of the bag's attachment device (whatever it is)? I'm thinking about getting the bags myself, and I'm just curious as to how everything looks and works before I pull the trigger on a set of bags that f'in expensive when I don't intend to leave them on all the time.

You know.....I've never noticed it before, but it does look as if the entire front wheel is ofset to the rider's right hand side. I assume this is to make clearance for the brake rotor. The fender is centered above the tire, but everything seems to be off toward the right. I believe the FatBoys are like this as well. Take a good look at your CrossBones, see if it does the same. (then again....springer front ends are probably different)
