I'm jealous. I love my Springer Classic, but if I had come across a '47 or '48 at the time, I'd have jumped on it.

Hey, that bike looks a little familiar. Except for the bars and pipes it looks like mine. Great minds do run in the same channel.

Had to say it, you knew it was coming..............May as well be me that dropped the card. Ok im done being a smart ass, but in actuality these pic threads as permanent posts are a good resource for those shopping for a bike. You can sift through all the softail models and look at all the customizing and get a feel for what you would like to do yourself.

hi. wanted to know the hieght of the ape hanger bars on your springer for friend of mine looking to change his bars?

I thought that I should introduce myself to this group. I have been lurking for a few months but I really like this group. I have an '05 Black Pearl Springer Classic. Love the springers. I was looking at a Road King Custom till I saw the Springer Classic and it was all over. I have done a few mods but it will be a work in progress for the forseeable future. I would post some photos but this site is pretty restrictive on posting. All of my photos are high resolution and I don't have a means to resize them currently. Barry

Coaster, I like what you did with your bike. Is the air cleaner cover the 8" round that harley sells? If it is, how do you like it? You had to get the SE high flow to use it, right?Do you like the exhuast you got now or was the duals better? Thanks for the great pics.

Yes that is the 8" round air cleaner cover. I like it a lot. I also had the SE airfilter installed before I picked up my bike.

The exhaust is great and I really love the look. It's just individual style. I still have the cross overs and can easily swap them again if I decided to go back. But I love it the way it is now.

Thanks for the heads up. Glad you like it.

I got the SE Slash Slip ons with the Stage I and Mine sound good. Not loud enough to annoy but you get someone's attention when you need to!

Justin, welcome to the best damn HD forum on the net. I think the Springer Classic was a great choice. But maybe I'm biased. Enjoy and stay safe! Scott

FISHTAIL SLIP-ONS >>> - 4/4/2006 11:37:35 AM

Well guys, I FINALLY ordered the V&H Fishtail Slip-ons...Should be here in the next week. Thanks very much to 06ClassicSpringer and SPRUNG for all of your input on the mufflers. Can't wait to put 'em on my bike.

FYI - I ordered them from PARTS DIRECT for $339.00 (free shipping included) .... I've looked all over the net and found this to be the best price. They're $85.00 cheaper than buying them direct from Vance & Hines or my local Harley Dealership. Here's the direct link if anyone's interested:

http://www.gopartsdirect.com/2005/item2005.asp?ItemID=8250&CategoryID=17&MFG=Vance+%26+Hines&SubCat=&Model=Softail&Placeholder=12

Also - earlier this year, I was kinda kicking around getting the SE Slip-ons with the Fishtail end caps ( I decided against this after hearing on this forum that they were too quiet and over $500). Anyway, I talked to the guy at the parts dept. at Orlando Harley and he told me "If you want the Screamin Eagle Slip-ons, you better get 'em now .... 'cause Harley's goin' quiet!" Meaning they are DISCONTINUING ALL Screamin' Eagle exhaust systems beginning June 1st under pressure from the EPA, etc ..... I've heard rumors of this over the past year. This was the first time a drop-dead date was given.

Anyone else heard this???
Later -
LOWRY

Congrats on getting your new fishtail slipons, should really add to that retro look. On another note, too bad that the EPA has to stick their nose into everybody else's business. I've seen cars and trucks that were a lot worse than a Harley with SE2's.

I think she must have put 10,000mi on that bike just sitting there in my front yard. when ever they came over to visit she would come up and ask if she could sit on the bike. then she would sit there and pretend to ride.
