My brother totaled his 61 pan the insurance is offering 22 k and he can buy it back for 2 k but he gets a salvage . I thank it's good because it's not orignal.there are other harley parts like the front end from a 1980 road king that alone I will lower the value among other stuff . Any experts out there solving my proublem. there is no engine work high $ Items.
Spirit54, if I have this right it is a non-stock 61, the insurance company is saying they will give him 22K, and he is thinking about buying it back? Why? Sentimental reasons? 1961 had no particular significance for the Motor Company. I have never seen a 61 go for that amount of greenbacks. A 48 yes, a 65 if it was pristine, and a few other limited production, low mileage types, but not a 61. You could even throw in a few off year models that were all tricked out I suppose, but I do not see what the hesitation is. Tell him to take the money and run. He can easily find something similar that will ring his bell for a whole lot less and give him a few schekels to fix it up the way he wants.
yep thanks for the help . Im out of his ego . He is wineing about the salvage title LOl . This is my first harley 2000 road glide 95 cubic loaded .I love my glide as much as any one loves ther bike .I gave a 11.500 I rode it ounce and the cash was handed over.
For 2K, I would buy it back no problem, especially if the Ins co just gave him 22K minus the 2K for the bike. What the heck, he is going to keep the bike until when? Forever? In the words of Don Henley; "Get Over It" I bought my son's car back from the Ins Co after total and the Dept Of revenue gave me a clean title. Whenever I sell it I will tell the buyer the history of the car, it's a Cavalier so it's not worth a lot of money anyway and my reputation is worth more than a few dollars I'd make by not disclosing the info. My point is, he might be able to get a "clean" title anyway and if he doesn't he is still way ahead with the money in his pocket.

If he can get 22 out of it and then buy it back for 2 he better jump on that deal with both feet. If the motor is still ok that alone is worth way more then 2 grand.

yep, those jugs and heads are worth 2 grand alone.
