Default Crotch Rocket Riders Make It Bad For All Of Us

Last night, I saw a group of crotch rocket riders going down I-485 in Charlotte doing wheelies. They passed me as I was doing 65-70. They were also weaving in-and-out of traffic. I am surprised that no one was killed or injured. I know that the cagers were lumping crotch rocket with cruiser/touring riders as a single group.

I think it is a shame that these bikes are sold, by the sport bike dealers, to individuals who do not have a motorcycle endorsement on their licenses. You cannot buy a car w/o a proper license, so why is a 160 mph killing machine any different? I think the AMA should push for mandatory motorcycle endorsements for any purchaser of a motorcycle from a dealer.

Also, why is there a need to sell bikes that can reach 160 mph for street use? This only encourages these young numb skulls full-of-mush to try to reach the bikes limits. I fault the manufacturers that provide these excessive speed machines for street/traffic use.

It is up to the motorcycle industry to do their part to slow down these idiots.

You don't have to have a license to buy a car either, at least not in Wisconsin.

Here in NC, I always had to show my license when I purchased a car. Regardless, something needs to be done. It seems like the industry is willing to continue to sell these things to people who have a good chance to injure someone else besides themselves.

Wow, that post sure makes a lot of assumptions and stereotypes all sport bike riders. Curious where you got your facts from. Good thing there are no irresponsible Harley riders to give bikers a bad name.

I think most of those bikes have speed limiters at 189 MPH. Just like everything else, that can be changed after purchase. Some of those bikes will go much faster than 189 with the limiter removed.

I hear what you are saying, however I wouldn't like it if the factory were to limit my harley to 65 mph. I am all for mandatory MSF training for new riders.Perhapswe need to have some "positive peer pressure" I am all for the "brotherhood" and don't care what you ride, but it is time that we as bikers took a few matters into our own hands. I'm just saying...

The bike is only as dangerous as the operator. No different than a gun, only dangerous who shoots it and for the purpose.

I can appreciate the crotch rockets for the technology they contain. They are fun to look at, and any man can appreciate the horsepower and speed I think. Aside from that,...they're pretty much gay power ranger moblies ,.....lol.
