View Full Version : where is the mascot now? molsenice 12-18-2005, 06:59 PM like the title states - any ideas???? Mikeeeeeeeeee 12-19-2005, 12:22 AM I believe it is in north Texas. We are waiting on it down here. rahlow 12-19-2005, 02:14 AM Is it in hibernation for the winter? pilot1996 12-19-2005, 02:36 AM This is frustrating for me...I don't understand why it is so hard to keep this thing moving... Someone speak up, tell us where it is, and let's get it done...time to move it. Mac Mac11 12-21-2005, 11:58 PM I'm here to help when we find the mascot. Reviewing the thread/map Skos had posted his trip last so maybe he knows where it is. I have sent him an e-mail two days ago but have not heard anything from him. This was such a good idea, and got off to such a good start that it is a shame that is has stalled like it has. Hopefully it will get going South soon, and start making the rounds again. Mac11 12-22-2005, 10:52 PM mac, Is there anyway of backtracking from the map and e-mailing those folks that had it last. Maybe we could stumble upon it that way. SKJOLD 01-08-2006, 12:25 AM Exactly, I just hope it is in the south and not snowed in somewhere up north. Mikeeeeeeeeee 01-08-2006, 01:16 AM Its in Texas. pilot1996 01-08-2006, 01:26 AM This is crap. Who do we think has it? I will start sending emails, and maybe we can get someone to go get it and get it moving again. Mac ApeKing 01-08-2006, 02:10 AM Seems like the general consensus is that Skos has it. Harley Rulz 01-09-2006, 05:27 PM I'm with Mac.I don't understand why this is so damn hard.Skos hasn't posted sense 12-19-05 so go figure. If it's in Texas I'll go get it if I need to and get it going again.I just need to know which direction to head out. SKJOLD 01-09-2006, 07:30 PM When we get it back, I recommend sending East through the southern states down to Florida since the north is snowed in. And then work north as the weather improves and hopefully we can get this to everyone. Mikeeeeeeeeee 01-09-2006, 09:02 PM OK guys............Here is the scoop. Skos wants to hand off, lets dont let the ball drop! Skos is a regional manager of the firm he works for. Lots of traveling. As he stated in earlier posts back in October, business is tight for him around the end of the year as well as beginning of the new year. We tried to get it together back before Christmas, and he had just had shoulder surgery and could not make a long trip on a bike. We asked for someone to pick it up close to home for him, and there are several people who could have done that but none stepped up to the plate. No fault of anyone. No finger pointing. Just a busy time of the year. We tried and dropped the ball. If anyone is to blame, let me take the heat. I tried to locate someone close enough to him to take it, but I couldnt. I know this was a busy time for me as well. I had a Christmas Cantata to put on and practice for. The only riding I got done the entire month of December was back and forth to work and Church. We all know that this time of year is busy for a lot of people. Skos is going to be out of town for almost the entire month of January. Thats why we tried to get it moving before Christmas. I understand business and having to go out of town. All we need to do is get some people set up between Dallas and here in Montgomery. There are several people in East Tx and Several in La. All we have to do is plan this out and do it. I will be willing to ride into Miss to pick it up. If no one in between can help, Skos will meet me halfway between Dallas and here. That is a LONG ride, but we will do it. You guys in La and East Tx get up with us. Skos wants to meet someone the 1st weekend of Feb. Harley Rulz 01-10-2006, 03:07 PM Thanks for the update Mikeeeeeeee!I meant no disrespect for skos.I just wanted to make sure he was still gonna be around the forum.I missed the thread about him being busy for the past few months.I had forgot about the surgery.I hope he's doing well and I also hope we can get the mascot moving.I will help anyway I can.I'm 300 or so miles from him but I'm not afraid of miles so if I can help just let me know. It is supposed to be heading this way this weekend, and will take 3 transfers to get to me. As far as having it in Tallahasee by the end of the month, I cant guarantee that. I can only guarantee that I will transfer within a week of getting it. Look back at previous posts in these mascot threads and you will find all the guys talking about getting it after Bham. I would suggest doing some PM's to them. That should get it coming your way. When is bike week? SKJOLD 02-02-2006, 05:56 PM If they only do 1 transfer per week, it wont make it here in time. In order to pull this off, we need it in Tallahassee the weekend before Bike Week to give time to get it over to Tampa and then Daytona. We will have it in and out of the State within 1 week. 2 weeks tops and have several members that will have carried or had their picture taken with it. Is it possible to send it east to Tallahassee first since we are on a time crunch? We can send it back north with someone leaving from Daytona going back north. Then you would have plenty of time to follow your route before sending it to Myrtle Beach in May. SKJOLD 02-02-2006, 06:01 PM Bike Week is March 3-12th And we can see who would be willing to carry it north and where from Daytona. Mikeeeeeeeeee 02-02-2006, 08:58 PM Hi Larry I am in Montgomery Alabama. Here is the planned succesion. Or was. Mac11 is in Rushton La. He will pass off to Tim in St. Lamant La. Tim would have passed off to me in Biloxi Ms. (so far no one in Ms seems to be interested.) The forum names you need to contact are Mac11 and Tim You can PM them (suggested for a quicker response) and meet up with Tim or whoever. I will not be going to bike week. Not my kind of thing. Dont have the vacation time anyway. I reserve all my vacation time for ministry and seeing family. It would be useless to bring it straight back from bike week to me. A better route would be to travel up through Ga after Fla. Plenty of guys in Ga want it also. They can bring it to Alabama. By that time I will most likely be in Ukraine on a mission trip. I will leave it up to you to organize everything after this reply. I honestly feel that I have done my part by organizing everything to bring it southeast. Contact Mac11 or Tim and tell them that I have relinquished to you in favor of getting it to bike week. Terry1955 02-13-2006, 12:50 PM I need to know if the Mascot got picked up this weekend. We are going to have to make some changes on how it is handled and I'm going to appoint someone to take charge of it and be responsible for keeping up with it and mapping out where it goes. I want to see it make it to Daytona and Myrtle Beach for both rallies. I would also like to have it for the Midwest HDF Rally on June 17th. I'll need to get it moved West from Myrtle Beach for the rally and then it can go back and continue it's journey. Skjold, I need you to contact me ASAP. I want this to be fun instead of a fight over who gets it next. SKJOLD 02-14-2006, 12:27 AM Myrtle Beach is in May, so we have some time to maybe hit Alabama, and Georgia, before getting it to SC for Myrtle Beach. Then I was thinking of moving it north through New England a bit and then west through Penn, Ohio, etc. and then hit the Midwest Rally. Then move it further west and north and have it in South Dakota by August for Sturgis. After Sturgis, we try to hit as many of the northern states as we can and start bringing it south again before winter. Since the west coast does not snow much, we can continue the move west and have it in Washington by October. Then move it south to California. Then cover the southwest moving east again having it in FLorida again by next Bike Week. It will be a general counter clockwise rotation timed for the seasons. I got an E mail from Skos stating that is was 25 degrees there. The plan is for this upcoming weekend. I got an e mail from Steve saying that he and Ken are suppose to meet this coming weekend. I also got the following PM from Log on name: Oliver Clozoff. See if you can get hold of him and help with the arrangements. Hey Terry Hope everything is going well up in Illinois. My name is Brian and I'm in Birmingham,AL. I noticed you asking in the forum about the mascot pick up,drop off, etc. Hoping maybe you can help me out.I'm supposed to meet Tim in Biloxi this weekend to pick the mascot up and carry it to Buds in Tallahassee.I haven't heard anything in about a 5/6 days on the subject. If you hear anything as to what the plans are or if anything has changed would you please let me know. Hell this is a 925 mile run that I'm looking forward to but I do need a day or so notice. Thanks, Brian SKJOLD 02-14-2006, 12:47 AM Yes, the route to daytona was all set up, and depended on the hand off occurring last weekend. So now we will have to push everyone else back one weekend. Unfortunatley, we will probably miss Daytona as a result. The way it looks now, if the handoff from Skos to Ken occurs, this weekend, we will need Ken to pass of to Mac11 the same day. Mac11 will need to pass off to Tim and Tim to Brian in Biloxi who will get it to Budds by the following weekend. Budds will then get it to me in St. Pete the following weekend and I will bring it to Daytona on the 9th of March. So as long as we get it to St. Pete before March 7th or so, we will be good. Terry1955 02-14-2006, 12:55 AM Do what you can Larry. This is suppose to be a fun thing. I know it has gotten out of hand over the past couple months due to weather and other issues but we don't want anybody getting PO'd or killed trying to get the Mascot to Daytona. If nothing else we can overnight the thing to you, take it to Daytona and then send it back and start where we left off. I want as many members as possible to sign the Mascot and have their pictures taken with it. Can you tell me when the Myrtle Beach Rally is so I know what type of time frame we have between Daytona, Myrtle Beach and The Midwest Rally. Thanks for your cooperation and assistance Terry SKJOLD 02-14-2006, 01:06 AM Myrtle Beach is May 12-21 2006. If Brian makes this 925 mile run to Tallahassee, he could be a canidate for the Ironbutt challange. He will need to keep receipts etc. If he can log 1000 miles within 24 hours with documented proof, he can become a member of the Ironbutt club. 100yrfatboy 02-14-2006, 01:11 AM I hate to be the one to ask this stupid question. Mikeeeeeeeeee 02-14-2006, 10:27 AM I still think you guys are missing the true spirit of the mascot. It is about riding and meeting your other freinds on the forum. That is all that it is about. What it is not is a rush to get it somewhere as fast as you can. Listen carefully. Do the logistics. How many members are there? I readin an earlier post where it was suggested that the mascot make a complete circumnavigation of the continental US and be back at bike week again next year. IS that what it truly is about? That means that if it is passed each and every weekend, that only 53 members will see it in a years time and it will follow the same plan again next year. The mascot is an evolving thing. You cannot tie it down to your own perception of a schedule. It goes where it is led, by the dictates of whoever is carrying it at the time. Bike week is fine. Myrtle Beach bike week is fine. But slow it down and enjoy it. It is more than a party rag to be toted from one gathering to another. It is our mascot for this forum and needs to be treated with some degree of respect. When the mascot was concieved, no one invisioned it becoming a race. It is rather a means of uniting the brotherhood of this forum, one rider at a time. Remember, the reason that it is going to be at bike week this year is that a lot of guys in Alabama gave up their turn at passing it along. Dont forget all those guys. And dont get so carried away with getting it to some other event that you pass up even more people along the way. People who would like to carry the mascot, but are not nearly as assertive in their mannerisms. People who do not post as much as some. Mikeeeeeeeeeeee's 2 pesos worth billnourse 02-14-2006, 01:09 PM Mike, Thanks for putting things in perspective. This concept is a great way to meet some good people and have a little fun, but it is not "Around the World in 80 Days." The mascot moved along real well during the riding season, but got a little stuck when the weather took a turn. I'm sure it will get moving again as soon as things thaw out. If it doesn't make Daytona this year, it will next. As far as mailing it around, I have previously posted my objections to that. The whole point was to have it ride motorcycles around the country, not the UPS truck. To all of you that haven't had a chance to carry the flag, your time is coming, and the experience will be well worth the wait. Regards, Bill HeatherC 02-14-2006, 01:18 PM I have a suggestion. I do agree that it should not be a race to get it around the country. And also believe it should be passed from bike to bike. However, think about it….there is no way everyone will ever get to pass or carry the mascot. There are just too many members. Having to Mascot at events like Daytona, Sturgis, Myrtle Beach and the Mini Rally in Effingham would give a lot of member a chance to sign it even if they never get to carry it. It is still in the spirit of the mascot as the members are gathering and meeting and sharing a good time in order to sign the mascot. I think in the case of these events it would be okay to mail the mascot to someone who would be able to make sure it was there and organize a time for all the members at the event to meet and sign it, take some pics, etc. Then it could be mailed back to the place it was prior to the event to continue being carried from member to member via bike. That way no one gets missed but the mascot is still present at the rallies/events. What do you all think? Terry1955 02-14-2006, 01:43 PM I agree Heather. My first choice would not be to mail it and I think we have a good chance of getting it to Daytona in time for the Rally. After that we have time to pass it along to Myrtle Beach and then to Illinois for the Midwest Rally. At the Rally in Effingham, IL we can pass it back to some one heading to an area that was missed due to the bad weather this winter. We will get it back on track if everyone just calms down. I've had at least 25 pms and e mails about this over the last two days. I don't have the time to be the mascot honcho. We can't make all the rallies every year so there is no use in trying. [sm=headbang.gif] BlackOak 02-14-2006, 10:14 PM I am leaving Memphis on the 3rd and going Key West, then up to Daytona @ the 6th. If I can help anything along, let me know. BlackOak MidSouth BackRoads SKJOLD 02-15-2006, 12:52 AM I still agree that the Mascot should only be moved from bike to bike. To mail it or drive it would destroy the spirit of the Mascot. I still want to pass it around like we have always done. All I am asking is that we do it in such a way, that it also makes its way to the major rallies so more members can sign it. If we continue the way we have been doing it, only 52 members per year will get to sign or carry it. We now have over 8000 members and growing. At the rallies, at least more people will have access to it. This should not have been a hurry up and get it to Daytona situation. I have been trying to plan this since November. It is just that nobody has really been the final authority or planner as to where it will go. For the longest time there was no real organization and the Mascot kinda became stagnent over the past 2 months. What we need is a dedicated Moderator for the Mascot Forums, or some sort of official Mascot coordinator who can plan, coordinate, and track the mascot movements and will be responsible to see that as many people get an opportunity to carry it as possible. With a little organiation, we can have hundreds of people per year carrying the mascot. mtgriz 02-15-2006, 11:58 AM >The way it looks now, if the handoff from Skos to Ken occurs, this weekend, we will need Ken to pass of to Mac11 the same day. This is really very doable...we're not talking about great distances here. Too bad we have to rely on weekends because just about all this week it's been great but by Saturday morning the forecast is calling for snow/rain and temps in the low 30's. We'l do the best we can. Ken FreedmRider 02-15-2006, 02:03 PM Bill Nourse and Mikeeeee said it best. The true spirit of the mascot is to pass it from rider to rider, not mail it to some location just because there is a rally or event. It has been obvious over the past year that it is difficult at times to get it moving. The bottom line is that if someone wants the mascot then they can go get it or coordinate with the current holder to meet somewhere in between. There is no pre-determine order, there is no dibs on it. If you want it go and get it, meet some one from the forum, share some stories and photos with the rest of us. :D Not trying to insult anyone but having a ton of members names on it as a result of mailing it takes away from the mascot and all the folks who have ridden the miles to get their name on it. Well that’s my ½ a cent. ;) molsenice 02-15-2006, 09:33 PM I have a suggestion. I do agree that it should not be a race to get it around the country. He's going to the Cherokee Rally this weekend and is going to try and pass it off to someone headed to Myrtle Beach. It's my understanding that if he can't pass it off this weekend, he'll be bringing to MB the second weekend of the rally. FBFletch 05-07-2006, 03:05 AM Just to keep everyone posted on the status of the Mascot, I picked it up from Capn_buzzcut today. We met in Mount Airy, NC and I had lunch with he and his lovely daughter at the Snappy Lunch. Great guy and a very nice '06 Road King on which he's already rolled up 10,000 miles (you're the man, Jim). I'll try and get together some maps of the Mascot travels to post. But, it may take a few days. Jim's daughter took a picture of us making the exchange on Main Street in Mount Airy. Hopefully he'll be able to post that as well. Anyway, I carried the Mascot back to Hickory, NC with me. Tomorrow (actually later today as it just turned midnight) I'll be leaving to take it back to Hartsville, SC with me and then on to Myrtle Beach on Friday when I head down for Bike Week. The current plan is to have the Mascot at the Meet and Greet on Saturday, May 13th at 2 PM (Broadway at the Beach, Parking lot between Hard Rock and Charleston Boardwalk). We'll hang out in the parking lot so that folks will have a chance to meet. Then, we'll go on a short Mascot ride, come back to Broadway at the Beach, take pictures of everyone with the Mascot (I'm thinking on the front steps of the Hard Rock Cafe), and then have a signing party (hopefully in the Hard Rock if it's okay with them). Same plan for the following Saturday (same time except at SBB new location). At the second Meet and Greet, Mascot ride, and signing party, I'll pass the Mascot off to Crash and he'll head to the Northeast with it. So, there you have it. Hope to see as many of you as possible in MB. Looking forward to a great time. Be safe on the ride to Myrtle. molsenice 05-07-2006, 11:32 AM 5 weeks makes you a LEGAL resident in some states - why does it need to stay so long? Other tips for Road Captains planning their Mascot Rides: If possible try to limit the number of days the Mascot is at the rally so it does not stay stagnet too long. 2-3 days should be enough.[sm=proof.gif][sm=deadhorse.gif] Ideally you should schedule one day when all the HDForums members attending the rally can be present for the Mascot ride. At the end of the ride, preferabley at a suitable party location, everyone will sign the Mascot and have a picture taken and then procede to get down and party. This should theoreticlly be able to be accomplished in one day. Afterwards, it should be moved out with someone who is heading in the direction where the mascot is scheduled to go next. wow = this is gettin sad - I used to live in NC - been to MB - what is soooooooo special that the Mascott has to stay in state for what will end up being 5 weeks - looks like June before it leave the south and then guess what - the Mid west rally is going to need it - MABE WE WILL MAIL IT THERE - wouldn't that be special hahahahaha why not at least see if there are any members who live near ya and get it moving in State?? It would be nice if the Mascot could be continually moving. However, sometimes there's just no one available to pass it off to in the direction that it needs to be headed. We knew that we wanted to head up north and we knew that there would be someone at Myrtle Beach that was headed back up north. Capn_buzzcut tried to find someone to pass it off to in Cherokee the other weekend that was headed to MB the first weekend (since he wasn't going until the second weekend). There was no one. So, I rode my motorcycle home this weekend just to pick up the Mascot from Capn_buzzcut, knowing before I left that it was going to be a crappy weekend to ride (otherwise I would have driven my car home). But, it was going to be the last opportunity to pass the Mascot off before Myrtle Beach. Otherwise, it would not make it to MB until the 19th where we could find someone to pass it off to. So, I rode 135 miles home, 180 miles out of my way yesterday, and 135 miles back to SC in a cold rain today (no windshield, no fairing) just so the Mascot could be moved. I did it because I thought it was in the best interest of a large number of HD Forum members. Quite honestly, I'm sick of of all the whining about the Mascot and at this point I could care less if it makes it to Myrtle Beach, or to the Northeast, or anywhere else for that matter. First off, the Mascot is moving. It hasn't just been sitting around waiting for MB to happen. The problem is that it's not moving in the direction that we ultimately want it to head right now. Why? Because there's no one to pass it off to that's headed north. The fact that the Mascot is going to Myrtle Beach and the fact that there will be Mascot rides while it's there is really secondary. The primary reason for getting it to MB, IMHO, is to get in the hands of someone headed to the Northeast. So what if it stays a few extra days to allow HD Formum members to ride with the Mascot and sign it while it's there. That's the whole purpose of the Mascot anyway. If you want to deny some HD Forum members the opportunity to ride the Mascot so it can head to the Northeast a few days earlier than it would have otherwise, take it up with SKJOLD. I disagree about the rallies. I see rallies, especially large regional or national rallies, as an opportunity to move the Mascot from one area to another more quickly (MB is a case in point). If it weren't going to MB, it would still be sitting in NC waiting to be passed off to someone headed to Virginia, then to Maryland, etc. And, who knows how long that would take? So, to answer your question. The MB Rally is dictating the move because it's the quickest way to get it to the Northeast. It can certainly skip MB but, it will take about twice as long to get it out of here and headed north. Unless of course you want to quit talking about it, hop on your bike, and come get it. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the plan that was agreed upon based on SKJOLD's belief that you were going to be there both weekends. Even though you CLEARLY stated that you were only going to be there the first weekend. That being the case, this has all been the result of a simple misunderstanding. i also have a sm prob, that the person who i thought was supposed to be handling these differences of opinion, and thats all it is, is not even chimed in yet. whatever it takes man, this is supposed to be fun, but its getting heated. i didnt like some of the pm's i got regarding this, and i m not mentioning which ones by whom, but i didnt appreciate them, you know who wrote them know what im talking about I didn't realize that you were getting PMs on this. I now understand your frustration and desire to wash your hands of it completely. I'm feeling the same way. By the time all this is over, I probably won't be following the Mascot forum anymore. i do, by all means, feel there is finally a solid plan on the movement, and so be it, crash is bringing it up to PA, them i believe crash is handing off to cmbucky. im thinking about taking the ride with cmbucky to meet with crash, ride it east and keep goin this will come together still sucks its sitting the extra weekend I know this is really nit picky but, since you weren't going to leave MB till the 16th and it's now going to leave on the 21st, it's an extra five days and not a full week. Unless someone in the Northeast is planning to die or move to Europe during that time, I don't understand why they'd care if it stayed an extra 5 days. It would be different if it was going to stay an extra five days and there wasn't a plan for moving it after that. Then I could understand folks being upset. Yellotang 05-08-2006, 03:41 PM I know this might sound retarded or whatever, but after sitting here reading this thread I have my 2 cents to add. Why does the mascot have to go to the rallies? I can understand it if there were two mascots. One for PR (Rally attender) and the other (being the main mascot) should be the one that is truely a freespirited free roaming mascot. LAWMAN CRASH 05-08-2006, 08:27 PM ORIGINAL: AcidRayn fletch your posting some good points, some really good ones. me, im not upset, i hate politics for just this reason I don't think anyone has a BAD plan for moving the mascot. I just think logistically its been tough to put together. ORIGINAL: AcidRayn my only true gripe, is that WAYYYY back in march, the plan was agreed upon, that it only spent the first weekend in mb, then, 2 weeks ago, that all went to **** And I THINK this is where the confusion is coming from. In FEBRUARY I said I would take it north from MB but it would be the 2nd weekend. At the END of MARCH you said you wanted to move it North but on the 1st weekend of MB. In the mean time plans were made to have it at the 2nd weekend HDForum ride... The problem is much of it was done in different threads. So SKJOLD, Fletch and I thought you were staying through the 2nd weekend, and that there was a plan in place. When we saw that you weren't staying for the 2nd weekend, I PM'd SKJOLD and said maybe someone should make sure of the plan whichever way it was going to go. The plan we suggested was Fletch would get it and bring it to MB, then hand it off to you for the 1st ride. Then you would hand it off to me for the 2nd ride and then I would bring it North on the 21st and either bring it to meet you, or pass it off to someone who would then bring it to you or whomever. ORIGINAL: AcidRayn i could care less how long it spends anywhere, but, would like to see it move, not be stagnet for the extra weekend. I agree. I also think they're are always going to be hang-ups where it'll get stuck somewhere for awhile, but I don't see this as one of those. This is holding it over an extra couple days so that a group of members (maybe a BIG group) will get a chance to ride with the mascot, when they might not otherwise get one. To me that's a good use of time. ORIGINAL: AcidRayn i didnt like some of the pm's i got regarding this, and i m not mentioning which ones by whom, but i didnt appreciate them, you know who wrote them know what im talking about Yeah, now THAT'S just not right. I still have to work a few more days before I can start getting ready. SKJOLD 05-11-2006, 01:33 AM Who has it now? I see no reason why we can pass it in and around the Carolinas in between meet and greets as long as there is someone to bring it back in time for the second weekend. It does not have to be stagnet. Where are all the peeps in the Carolinas who wanted to carry the mascot? Now to settle this issue, you all have to keep in mind that we orginally planned to have the Mascot at the rally for 1-2 days. But there was a bit of confusion on the dates and as a result we had to schedule 2 weekends as to not screw people out of carrying it. So if there is a way to move it around the state a bit inbetween meet and greets, then by all means, make it happen. If not, then we will just have to be patient and wait till the second weekend to move the mascot north. All we can do is learn from our mistakes and try to make it smoother next time. Now insted of complaining about it being stuck in the Carolinas, till the 20th, I recommend that everyone who is next in line (North Eastern States) post in the North Eastern thread and get a solid plan worked out for moving the Mascot through New England and perhaps even plan a Meet and greet for the North East to get as many New Englanders as possible together before we have to move it west for the Mid-West rally. The only way I can see to avoid what happened in Myrtle from happening again is to have everyone who volunteers for a Road Captain position, submit their plan as well as part of the application so it can be posted as soon as possible so that confusions about dates and times do not arise and we can limit the time the Mascot says at a rally to our goal of 1-2 days. Once again, I apologyse for the delay but I want to be fair to those who also made plans at Myrtle Beach. It will reach the North East I promise.:) Ironhead 05-11-2006, 09:29 AM SKJOLD, good post! make solid arrangments and keep it moving. :) FBFletch 05-11-2006, 05:16 PM ORIGINAL: SKJOLD Who has it now? Where are all the peeps in the Carolinas who wanted to carry the mascot? :) Hey, SKJOLD. I have the Mascot right now. I'll be in MB Friday evening. It's my understanding that I will act as Road Captain for both Saturday rides (if there are no other volunteers). I've tentatively picked a route for the first Saturday ride but, I want to get down there and ride the route one time Friday evening to make sure that it's a good route. I talked to a guy at work who's ridden extensively at Myrtle and he thinks I have a good route picked. I also want to talk to some of the folks at MB HD to see if they have any suggestions for an alternate route. And, I have a friend (experienced rider, new to the forum) that's volunteered to act as sweeper for the ride. Good idea on passing the Mascot off for the week. What may work out well is for me to pass the Mascot to someone who's going to be there the first weekend only. They can take the Mascot when they leave the first weekend and pass it off to someone who's coming back the second weekend. However, before we pass it off, whoever leaves MB after the first weekend with the Mascot needs to have it pre-arranged as to who they're going to pass it off to that's bringing it back. Heck, even if it stays in the area, if someone else wants to plan a mid-week ride, I'd be happy to pass it off to them. For those who are planning to attend, I'll see you at the Meet and Greet and Mascot ride on Saturday. SKJOLD 05-21-2006, 03:46 AM So does FBFletch still have the Mascot? FBFletch 05-21-2006, 08:15 PM First off, very sorry to hear about your loss Crash. It's always tough to lose a relative. Especially one you're very close to. Not to worry about the Mascot. It's in motion but, there's a story that goes with it. Yesterday (Saturday), I got to SBB right at 2 PM. I had planned to get there earlier but, I got caught in a sudden thunderstorm on the way down to the meet. Had to pull off at the VW dealership on Hwy. 17 Bypass and seek shelter until it slacked off a bit. As soon as I got to SBB, Solorider walked up and introduced himself. He recognized my bike right away. I put two HD Forum signs on my bike facing in two different directions but, no one else ever showed up. I waited at SBB from 2 PM until after 4 PM before I headed back to the motel. If anyone was there and missed me, I'm sure you know why. It was absolutely insane. Anyway, to make a long story even longer, I passed the Mascot off to a buddy of mine who came down for the rally and is headed back to South Jersey. He's a brand new forum member who's not really big on message boards. But, I convinced him to sign up about 3 weeks ago because I wanted him to go on one of the Mascot rides and because I thought he would be a valuable addition to the message board (former Service Manager at a HD Dealership). Anyway, we left Myrtle Beach early this morning. He should be back in South Jersey (Mullica Hill) this evening with the Mascot. His screen name is "Chuck" and as I said before, not really big on message boards so, I'll probably have to take care of making the arrangements to get the Mascot passed off to one of you guys in the Northeast. He's also in the process of selling his house and moving out of Jersey. So, we need to make this happen fairly quickly. It may be a matter of someone just going by his place and picking it up. I know this isn't the best of solutions. I really wanted to pass it off to someone who is more active on the forum. But, it's really the only option I could come up with on such short notice. I just wanted to make sure that it got to the Northeast in a timely fashion. I didn't want it stalled here any longer waiting for someone to move it in the right direction. So, is there anyone in the South Jersey area that could pick it up? Just let me know (email, PM, post) and I'll make the arrangements. molsenice 05-22-2006, 01:51 AM Crash - sorry to hear of your loss man - FBFletch - [sm=hail.gif] way to go above and beyond to take a "lemon" situation and make Lemonaid - cool story - THAT is the spirit of the Mascott AcidRayn 05-22-2006, 01:53 PM after this total cluster fook, youhave done an outstanding job fletch im in central/south jersey, mullica hill is not far at all i will gladly go get it pm me solorider/chucks phone number, and i'll go get it during the week, so i can pass it off this weekend who wants it from me? molsenice, you still in? lets get it going, its here, now lets move it[8D]fast fletch, i'll be waiting for the pm Bruce00 05-22-2006, 02:30 PM Iam home all week:D AcidRayn 05-22-2006, 03:12 PM okay, bruce and i are going to get it in bout an hour or so i guess its going to go with bruce as he is a bit further north than i, but i will still go for the hand off, but prob best for him to take it in case something comes up with me okay, who wants it? its going to be in central NJ this afternoon and when can you meet? bruce and i are off all week for a hand off Bruce00 05-23-2006, 02:15 AM http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f388/Bruce00/Picture834.jpg Its in Joisey;) Big Ted 05-23-2006, 02:19 AM Flag is looking great with all of the signatures on it. I will make sure it makes it back to you guys after the Rally so it can continue on it's regular travels. AcidRayn 05-23-2006, 12:03 PM okay, so far only geronimo has requested it, im going to pm him, and see when we can meet, hopefully during the week. bruce00 and i will run it together, what a kewl cat and fun to ride with. i showed him the "jersey" alot of people dont know about, the pine barrens. you would think you are in south carolina or georgia, great riding. i did 185 mi round trip and bruce did quite a bit more, as he had to come south about 50-60 mi to get to my house then we rode from there, south west to meet up with chuck and his wife. what a good couple of peeps, that guy is a total speed demon, he a nice collection of 2 wheelers and a freaking ferrari in his stable! as far as the maping, i guess we only map what it rode, which is, we left chucks house and went north on nj45, to nj322w, to the nj turnpike I95 north, bruce and i rode to exit 7a when i broke off and he continued north, i then continued west on I195 to ocean county rt571/cassville-toms river road, south to oc rt 549/lakehurst-whitesville rd to nj hwy 70 east to nj hwy 37 east to my house on North Gateway, toms river, where it is now resting in my garage, safe in sound in my gun locker! okay, who wants it Bruce00 05-23-2006, 12:53 PM Glad you made it home safe Rayn. I figured since you made all the arrangements, you should hold on to the flag. As I told you, all I want to do is ride:D I'd like to add to, what a great guy Chuck and his wife are..........Excellent people!!!! And yes, quite a collection of bikes, snowmobiles, and cars[sm=smiley20.gif] On the way home I tucked behind some car running in the 90/95 mph range and let her rip from exit 9 to exit 13. I figured there where no cops on the road, they were all giving those bikers a "Welcome to Jersey" party. There had to be 13-14 cars at that stop, with the one we saw heading that way with his lights on to join the party:D And you are correct, I'll Be Back to the Pine Barrens, beautiful....just beautiful Total miles for me was 252 AcidRayn 05-23-2006, 02:54 PM i was thinking, maybe we can set up a meet/greet at ground zero in NYC for a photo op? so far only taker is geronimo, anyone?
