Default XL1200C Speed Sensor

Been working on my speed sensor problem.

Got the seat off and the sensor unplugged. With the ingition on ACC I get about 10.5V when I check from the redwire to the black and about the same when I check from the whitewire to the black. Is this voltage reading too low?

When I try to get an Ohm reading through the sensor, no matter what combition of wires I use, I get no reading. Red to black and white to black is an open circuit. I should get some amount of resiteance reading from the red to black or the white to blackwire, correct?

If I remove the sensor from the bike, is it still rideable or will oil come out the hole?

I have read else where on the net that this sensor has a majorreliablity problem. Some people having to replace them once a year. Anyone else had this experiance?

I have seen that the part number for this sensor has been changed from 74402-95 to 74402-95B. Maybe the B verson is a second generation that is more reliable. Any one know this for sure?

Thanks for any help.

It's easy, you can copy it from the top of the Sportster pg, thats what I did.
I just did what it said, and it took about 1 minute...Gary.
