There has been a lot of controversy on whether to use synthetic oil during breakin of a new or rebuilt motor. To try to put this in perspective, here is some of the manufacturers that use synthetic oil from the factory as the first fill...

One of the myths that surrounds synthetic oils is that new engines require a break-in period with conventional oil. The fact is, current engine manufacturing technology does not require this break-in period.
