Harley Davidson Atlanta Dealership in Lithia Springs, GA

rahall -> Harley Davidson Atlanta Dealership in Lithia Springs, GA (8/13/2007 8:23:42 AM)

I just wanted to tell everyone about my experience with Harley Davidson Atlanta in Lithia Springs, GA.

I bought my 2007 Ultra Classic from HD Atlanta on 7/14/2007. This was the best price I found within a 500 mile radius of my home town in Madsion Alabama. The dealership is a little over 200 miles from home. The salesman, Gene Murphy, had everything in order. There where no surprises. Everything was exactly as Gene said. He got me an excellent interest rate and and insurance directly from Harley that beat my local bank and insurance agent rates. It was almost 3% less on the loan rate and nearly half on the annual insurance premium for the same coverage. As you can tell, I couldn't have been happier with the initial deal.

After I took delivery.........

I rode the bike for about 400 miles over the next week and decided it needed a good cleaning. When I removed the saddle bags, I found that the bags were not adjusted properly and had rubbed the painted side covers through the clear coat into the paint. The marks on the right side were about 2" long on both the bag and cover. The left side was not near as bad. I was not happy that my brand new bike had these blemishes on it at 400 miles. I will have to say that you could only see the rub marks if you removed the bags, but come on, it's a new bike.

I called Harley customer service..........

Harley customer service said it was a Pre Delivery Inspection item that should have been checked by the dealership and cited a Service Bulletin. They said it should be taken care of at the dealership.

I contacted Gene Murphy at HD Atlanta and this was the outcome..........

Gene assured me from the very first call that HD Atlanta would take care of the problem. Gene and I email a couple of times to get the details worked out before I made the 200+ mile trip to Atlanta. On 8/11/2007, I made the ride along with my newphew (2003 Heritage Softail Classic) to Atlanta. When I got to the dealership, Gene had the sales manager and warranty people take a look at the damage. They immediately replaced both side covers and both saddle bags with brand new parts, adjusted everything, and we were back on the road in about an hour.

The moral of the story...........

There are still good dealerships around and HD Atlanta is one of them. Thanks to everyone at HD Atlanta for the great sales experience, fantastic price, and great service after the sale. A special thanks to Gene Murphy for everything he has done from start to finish.

I will always go back to Gene and HD Atlanta in the future.

Thanks for the input.  I will have to stop in and check them out.  I am not in the market for a new bike, but I will still stop in and maybe get a t-shirt or something.

They are a good dealership. They treat customers well and I have never had a issue with them.

They are good, I bought my 06 Road Glide from HD of Atlanta and the salesman was great, I had to ride about 140 miles round trip but it was worth it.  I will most likely buy from them again soon....Also Stone Mountian Harley has a great parts department...sales suck but the parst guys really are good. As for service department, well we all know we would reather do it ourselfs right.

I also have received excellent service from Atlanta H-D, would highly recomend them.

This is the kind of story we need more of concerning dealerships. Sounds like a killer place. A lot of the dealers I have done buisness with could have cared less and just threw ya a bottle of touch-up paint.lol....

They exceeded my expectations again.

I had a small problem with the bag locks.

They actually offered to send a technician almost 400 miles (round trip) to change the locks.

I'm not kidding.

It looked like an easy job, so I just told them to send the locks and I would install them.

They overnighted the parts.

Now that's service in my opinion.

Thanks for taking the time to report one of the good ones. They are out there, but as in most things in life, the bad is what we hear about the most.

Maybe they could teach some of those Customer Service skills to a dealership in Seattle, thats well, not really in Seattle.  My sales guy was just fine.  There is one guy in parts and one in Service that have no business working there, or anywhere for that matter, RUDE is an understatement.  One 3 occassions I left feeling like "Dang, sorry I even came in and spoke to them".  We are talking about the EXTREME side of rude here with no proding them along on my part.  So well, I have taken my business elsewhere.. and I do a LOT of business.  I also talk alot!  My best friend bought a new V-Rod, but guess what.... not from there and all because of the 2 rude jerks!!

There is absolutely no reason to treat customers like that.

PapaTravis -> RE: Harley Davidson Atlanta Dealership in Lithia Springs, GA (9/12/2007 4:18:10 AM)

I wish that my local dealer, Thunderbird, in Albuquerque, was like that. The sales staff is lacking knowledge. The parts guys are rude, and don't follow through with what they say they will. The motorclothes ladies are great, though. And the service department has always treated me well. I have talked to the owner on numerous occasions about the parts guys, but that just seem to make them more rude toward me and the wife. As one of many examples, a buddy bought a brand new '06 Springer softail last year. He took delivery, went home, to clean his new bike (which the dealer should have done, IMO) While he was cleaning, he found a small scratch on the bottom of the derby cover. He called the dealer, less than an hour after he left, and told them about it. Asked if they would replace the cover. The flat out refused. Brand new bike, and they wouldn't replace a $60 part. That is not good customer service, IMO. I am happy for you, I just wish I could say the same for my local dealer.

I have purchased both my Harleys from Earl Smalls (which is in metro Atlanta). I will probably never purchase another bike from them. I guess I will try HD Atlanta next time. Earl's managers are so rude. They had a new salesperson the first time and he misquoted me on my Sporty. He quoted me on the Roadster not the Custom. Needless to say there was a pretty big price difference. And when I bought the RKC, they really tried their best to screw me on the trade in. I stuck to my guns this time though and told the guy just keep the RK, I will hang on to the Sporty. He saw that I didn't care and came up on the trade in. I don't like all that BS. Just shoot me straight to begin with. Especially when I come in there so often you know me by name. Ridiculous how much their CS has gone down...

I guess it comes down to the time and place and person. I have had nothing but praise for Earl Small both here in town and in Cartersville.  And even the dealership at HD of Atlanta has helped me out, putting on a part for me.  I wish all dealers were like this.  Taking my SG in today for the 10,000 mile service.  Bought the bike in Marietta but am having it serviced in Cartersville.  Choose your dearlers well, if you don't get the kind of service you expect, take it through the proper channels and keep a paper trail.  Then find a dealer that will work with you.

That's been the weird part for me with Earls. Their service is great although they charge big $$$ for everything (to be expected), their other departments are fine. Just their sales suck! Hopefully I won't have to worry about that again for a LONG time... until I find that Springer I always wanted[:D]

turtleman57 -> RE: Harley Davidson Atlanta Dealership in Lithia Springs, GA (9/12/2007 7:51:34 AM)

Cartersville has a nice 08 Springer CVO, just to let you know, lol. It's tempting but then I turn on the tunes and duck behind the windshield in the rain, and think I just might have to keep this SG.

I couldn't agree more, the service and parts dept. are outstanding and should be a role model for other dealers in the Atlanta area.  We won't mention them, they already know.  Combined the staff has a wide range of knowledge and care about their customers.  Riding a older evo its good to feel welcome and to know that their service dept. can do more than just bolt on a bunch of chrome.  Hell chrome won't get ya home!

Rahall, I live in the Snellville area and was wondering if Atl. HD installed your PCIII and dynoed it. What did they charge (if you don't mind sharing) and were you pleased with the results.
