Default CVO Paint Schemes

I'll be taking posession of my new 08 CUSE in December. The more I look at pictures of it, the more I crave to ride it. But as I look at the other CVO's and previous years' very cool paint schemes,I am left wondering why the lean towards the tame design of the 08 CUSE. The 08 Dyna, The 07 Springer, the 06 Fatboy all featured the canyon copper paint with mighty awesome graphics. Soooo because I want to tour across the country I mustlook geriatric? Where are MY flames? Where's MY tribal motif? According to this and other forums sites, I'm already having to do engine and exhaust mods on what's supposed to be a bike that has everything under one roof. So what's up? Can I custom order? Will the MOCO put out limited custom paint schemes for the 08CUSE? Man, I'd love to do the '06 fatboy SE with the purple over c.copper and ghost flames on an ultra. Now THAT's a killer combination!

Yes, I know, the color rocks. That's why I was drawn to it. But compared to the other paint schemes in the CVO line, it just seems as if they phoned it in. Seems funny that with all that realestate, I'd still be wanting more flash, but I do.
Remember the Dragonfly green they came out with one year? Perhaps if the silver or CC color had more irredescent sparkle.
Yeah, still, I'll be the onlyguy in my neighborhood with one.
Gonna LOVE my little "Longhorn" when she gets here.

No custom ordering paint on the CVO's...you get what they give you for that particular model year. You can't even get the paint code for them, and have to have a VIN number to get replacement parts if damaged. Check your paint very carefully when you get the bike...there have been reports of serious orange peel on at least one of the 08's.

Of course, you can always remove all the tins and replace them with another 5-7K worth of special edition paint from HD, or order a set of primed and have a custom painter do them. But save your originals or you'll devalue the SEUC.

Get some pipes and an SE A/C backplate, K&N filter, and a SERT on this bike before you drive it off the floor...the heat on the rear cylinder will fry the cylinder. And, watch for oil leaks on the rear cylinder after 3-6K miles. They have not resolved those on the 110 motors yet. I know people who are on their third set of gaskets and first or second cylinders/pistons. Hopefully, they will have this fixed by the time you get your bike in December.

I fully agree, pretty boring. I really wanted a white bike, but they should have done something with better contrast with the white. The anniversary edition isn't bad, but looks too much like the non-CVO bikes, so that left the CC and the only real option in my mind.

Blues...It's taken me a week of pouring through all the complaints to compile the list you just gave me. It's amazing to think, but it would appear that by not opening up the engine and letting it breathe, you are destined for miles of misery. Paint should be the least of my worries, huh?

Lab...I know I'm not the first to ask the question, "Is this the year I pull the trigger, or should I wait till next season?" This is it though, so I'm covering all bases by questioning everything I can think of if only to be as prepared as possible when something goes wrong. After seeing the live pics on the cvoharley site http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=15803.0 , I think we'll be mighty happy come delivery day.

CC, It's a tough call. Might not be an Ultra next year, given that they did 3 years in a row. Other problem is that I'm coming from the metric world. While I love my cruiser, I want something more comfortable and after seeing a copper caynon out in the sun, a standard UC just won't do. Also, there is nothing else on the road like an UC. Wings have no soul and the new Victory looks like something Buck Rogers would ride. Great bikes, but not for me. Seems like the main thing is to get it breathing better. I've actually been a member on the CVO site longer than hear and been reading as 'prepurchase' information. It sounds like a SERT will be out for the '08s soon, if not already, so that will help.

Lab...there is a part number for the SERT now, so I think it's available. What it will allow you to do is another question we don't know the answer to yet. Keep checking on the CVOharley forum. That group (I've got almost 5K posts over there) will have the answers for the CVO bikes, as I'm sure you've already gathered. This is a good source of infomation too.
