Ok this sounds crazy. I also know if I don't like your idea I don't have to do it. BUT,
My wife just told me she has three weeks vacation next year after May 1. We live in Southern Indiana and would like to have you suggest a route and itinerary to Yellowstone and back within about 16 days. Would like to leave on the Friday before Labor day 2008 that way we can add one more day for the Labor day Holiday into our trip.
Would like to see a lot but also want this to be a fun vacation. We will be riding two up on our Ultra. Just looking for ideas and maybe things you recommend along the way. I like to consider my motorcycle vacations more as a BIG RIDE than a hurry up and get there king of thing. I am open to all suggestions. I amopen to the number of miles a day and the route.
Would like to avoid big cities if possible. Have been there before but not on a bike.
The winner gets a big thank you andI will brag about your knowledge to evryone in the universe. Since I have a year to analyze your route I can more than plan it right.
Thanks for your help

Beartooth Pass- Red Lodge, MT to the east entrance of Yellowstone NP. Deer Lodge, MT NW of Yellowstone on I90. The little motel in town next to the local steak house is biker friendly, the steak house is good, and the museums (4 for 1 admission) are definitely worthwhile. Glacier NP north from Deer Lodge. There is too much to see. I have been to Yellowstone and Deer Lodge, I am doing Glacier and Beartooth next July.
The Black Hills in SD, Mt Rushmore, etc. Wall Drug in Wall SD, Devils Tower in Wyoming, and many more. Try this website for scenic rides: www.byways.org

Get on I-70 west. Stop in Topeka, and watch my kids for 13 days. I'll use your bike, and finish out the ride for ya, so your Mrs doesn't get wore out from all the riding, and ruin the trip with her constant nagging "How much further?, and you'll make it back to Indiana in time to go back to work.
On a more serious note: Don't stick to a rigid schedule. Plan easily obtainable riding goals each day, and Enjoy the Trip !!
Beartooth to Cheif Joseph to Cody. In Cody there are the Buffalo Bill museums. To the East entrance of Yellowstone or down to Jackson and do the Grand Tetons then to the South entrance to Yellowstone.

you dont say where in s in. but makes no dif. us 50 is interesting take it to grand junction, colo. backtrack a little to rifle and take 13 north to craig 40 west to vernal ut.then 191north and go on up the map .most of this is 2 lane small towns small resturants but not so far that u cant get help if needed.the occasional H.D. dealer is short trip away from all these rts.US 50 is almost as famous as 66 and u see a lot of same type stuff.I think it starts in one of Carolina,s goes all the way to S.F. bay
If you are interested, the Beartooth Rally is in Red Lodge, MT, so you could hit Cody, Beartooth Pass and Red Lodge on your way to Yellowstone. I think that the Rally is July 15, 16, 17 next year. But the first day is pretty much a golf tournament. I'm going if you want to hook-up but I will use the 15th as a riding day from Minnesota. If you want to check the dates, just search for Beartooth Rally, they have an official website.
