Default Do you think touring riders are ready for windshield tear-offs?

This laminated technology is used by NASCAR, F1, MOTO GP, AMA and other professional racers. The U.S. Military has tested this laminated material in the harshest environments, successfully meeting the standards for specification on US Military vehicles. HDForum members are being introduced to a new idea in windshield prep. The laminate's coated surface has very little surface tension, resisting bug matter, road grime, bird droppings - they just blow off. The surface is easily cleaned and scratch resistant. They 4 layers protect against sand pitting, nicks and rock dings, and is Military spec'ed to withstand a 65mph impact, protecting the shield from contact. Each layer is so durable, that the average rider may not pull a tear-off for a year or more. And, being a window film, it installs like tint with soap and water. So, what do you think? Any questions?

We want to generate feedback on the idea, generate a little rider talk about the ideathrough the bulletin boards, and I'll save the selling for the ads. Do you all find the ads on this site helpful? We are consideringa portion of our08 adbudget for this site. touring tear-offs.

How much would each tear-off cost approximately? And do they come in a box of 10 or something?

Well, they start at $79.00 a set and a set comes with 4 layers laminated with an adhesive into one sheet of film that applies with soap and water. Each layer can last a year or more, before you tear it off. Unlike racing tear-offs used to quickly clear the view, these are so durable, that they last very long before they deteriorate to the point of removal. The best part is how nothing really sticks to the surface, so they wipe off reaally easy with any basic towel or rag. We always get a kick out of other riders looks when they see us just grab a towel and wipe off the shield without worry of scratching it!

thanks for your ideas...what feedback can you give us?

Thank you guys, for all the great feedback. We have found about a dozen "R&D" riders fron HD Forums and they'll be giving us some feedback through the season.

Also, we're moving from our California home in the high desert, to Prescott, Arizona to work closer with our Harley riders out of Grand Canyon and Sedona HD. The website will have the updated info.
