Default Loose Shifter at Tranny Shaft

I noticed where the linkage hooks on to the tranny shaft that it is loose and slides back and forth. I tried to tighten and loosen the allen bolt on it but it wont budge so it didnt loosen up on me. Would the shaft or the linkage be worn to where there would be that much play? I've got 15000 miles on a 05 EGS. Thanks

I had 25k on mine, same trouble. Dealer tried to tighten and told me to see how that works.
It didn't. They pulled the gears out the right side of the trans and replaced the shaft. It was a cheap part.
Make sure you have them order that part before teardown or you will wait a few days.
You better get in there quick if it's an '05, unless you have extended warranty.

I had that problem last year. The Indy shop had a allen wrench on a socket head with a extension and a rachet and he tightened it up . You have to really be able to twist the rachet too. I haven't had a problem since.

I had the same problem on both my bikes. Couldn't tighten it up. The fix was to retap the threads; then the bolt will tighten.
