ORIGINAL: mudpuddle Not sure about the frame and all, I do know that the motor is a big inch stroker. That shot is from many years ago, I posted the image in memory of my friend, he died in an accident 20 years ago this week. He juggled the motor back and forth in several frame/suspension configurations, terrorizing the streets here for quite a few years. mud I just looked that, frame can be XR-750 or XLCR or 79-85 ironhead Engine is pre 70's Frontend maybe 74-77 just cool bike

Sorry if I was a bit curt. I just wasn't expecting it! What you've done is fine, and thanks! Do you belong to the XL-FORUM? If so, what's yer screen name over there? I was looking for another forum to visit, because you can only handle so many questions about carb farts;)

ORIGINAL: nywarthog '74 Sporty, bought it for my daughter, but she didn't ride it so I took it back. All stock except for the seat which I adapted to make it lower for her, and a floating , drilled rotor, straight pipes. Got 9,000 original miles on it. I ride it now and then, but I always have to remind myself that the brake is on the left. Very nice and clean old Sporty. Thanks for posting it. Would you post a picture of the machine in the background?? Looks interesting. mud

The fishtails was what caught my eye in the other pic. That's usually a dead giveaway for an oldschool real. Thanks for posting this. I'd like to see a shot with the upsweeps. mud

Here's a couple pics of mine. It's a 69 XLCH. I just got it, but the bike and I go back 18 years. It started back in grade 6 when a girl I was hanging out with showed me her brother's Harley. It was the first I'd seen in person and I fell in love. Around 5-6 years later I bumped into her brother and found out he still had the bike. We started hanging out and I talked him into rebuilding it because he'd torn it down and it was just a pile of parts. We got it all together and eventually the bike was sold. Then a couple weeks ago I found the bike and it was for sale. I brought it home Saturday. Here's a couple pics. I've got plans for the bike beyond the repairs it needs. Black paint, new pipes, and the kickstand will be the first things to get some attention. I'm sure I'll be posting up if I have any problems along the way.

I like that story Jones, and yeah, I think some black paint would do it some good. But really, that is interesting how that bike and you have been toying with each other until now you finally own it. Thumbnail Image

Hopefully I'll be able to post up some more pics with the black paint before summer.

That 69 is nice cycho. I'd keep that wrap around oil tank from the green machine. Good to focus on one old Sporty. Wise move. Any more pix?? mud quote:
