Some nice rides here. Thought I would share my recent purchase. I have already lost the uncomfortable Le Pera seat in favor of an original HD buddy seat that is more period correct and more comfortable. I plan to get a solo spring seat and a luggage rack for it later.

Lovin' havin' one. It's been 29 years since I have had one and it wasn't a Harley.

Thanks, Steve

Very nice looking Sporty Steve. You have all of the original equipment as far as I can tell. Correct fork boots, headlight and fenders and the center mount oil tank that is correct for a kick start only.
I see that you have the distributor top mount and a dry clutch with a ribbed timing cover, so that makes the bike a 1969 or earlier. What year did you say it was?
Hold on to that bike. It is getting very difficult to find one like that with all of the original equipment such as yours, so you have a good one..........pg

Hi Griffin, any chance you can email some pictures of your forward controls as i have the same kind as yours, i got mine shipped from custom chrome. When i put them on nothing seemed to fit properly on the left side so had to get a new plate made. Thanks Paul

Man I had me a 79 1000 sporty back in 95. It looked mean, but I always had to carry a set of spark plugs with me cause it would start farting at about every 50 miles or less sometimes. Dang I tried everything to fix the problem with no luck. Even overhauled the engine top and bottom and rejetted the s&s carb. No Dice. Finally got rid of it. I wish I would have kept it cause it sure was a relic and it was paid for. Would of been fun these days to cruise it just for old times sakes. Those were some good years for me as well as bad. Whoooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Here's a pic of mine I took yesterday - I just received this old Tracy "Black Rain" Sportster fairing from eBay and I'm in the process of fabricating some quick-release mounts for it. After a little trimming, I'll test-ride it some to verify the mounting and then remove it and have it painted black to match. I prefer the looks of a naked bike, but something like this that's easily removable would be nice for those long trips.

Here is a couple of updated pics of a bike I have had for 6 mons. I got some Christmas cash for some parts and got them off Ebay. After a ride and a bath this weekend, I installed the fork bag, saddlebags and supports. She looks more like the ones I saw when I was 16 in the last days of Hendrix. I put a chain guard on it yesterday, and I have a new NOS Screamin Eagle carb I found on Ebay that will need to be rejetted and installed soon. I also replaced the Lepera seat that was on it when I purchased it, w/ an NOS buddy seat I found on Ebay a few weeks back.

Enjoying it emensely.

Steve

that was my first bike, bought it for 2000 didnt run for 5 years... took it home and took it down to the frame, powercoated the frame, and new tin, rechromed EVERYTHING except the rocker boxes (ran outta money) and rebuilt the topend and the tranny. had this bike for 2 years and then sold it and bought a ultra classic (biggerst mistake I EVER made) I hated the ultra, and bought the bikein my sig now. Still looking to find that old ironhead, I want it back
