Just got back from the hospital where I was visiting a buddy who is pretty broken up after hitting a cow today.
Has anybody EVER heard of something like this? ? ? I know I never heard of this happening. He was riding with another buddy down a country highway and at the crest of a hill (yes, we do have A hill in N.E. Wisconsin) there stood 2 cows blocking both lanes. The one guy managed to get through the ditch and just barely recovered the bike from dumping. The other bike tried getting between them and caught a handlebar on a cows ass sending him directly down the road watching his bike slide in front of him throwing sparks behind it.
Fortunately they were both wearing full leathers but no helmets and the injuries are limited to 2 broken ribs and a heavily damaged ego.
Man that's the most ****ed-up story I ever heard in my life but I had to share.

A 51 year old guy and his wife got killed after the Beartooth Rally a couple of years ago when they hit a cow broadside at night.
Lots of open range around here. Moose & elk too.
The first thing that popped into my head (having alot of deer around here) is "Did it run out in front of you?"
That is funny to hear. I still don't believe it. All the farmers around here are required to have their pastures fenced in but there seems to have been a break in the fence. Just something else to look out for when riding.

In the early 90's.....there was a cattle truck that overturned on a 2-lane highway. This all happened in the middle of the night like 2am.. Anyways, they removed the truck from the highway and gathered up all the cattle.....or so they thought they had all the cattle.
Well, about 7am.....a motorcyclist was traveling on that highway and was in a curve, which was I belive the same curve where the truck turned over at. A cow was standing in the road and the motorcyclist hit it. It killed the cow and the motorcyclist died several days later.
You never know.....as long as we continue riding our motorcycles, we will always be at risk.
Had a friend driving a fire engine to a call and just missed a cow. He announced the location of the cow over the radio to warn all other responding units. Take a guess who hit the cow while returning to the station?
