just thought i would share my experience.last saturday was really turning out nice, went and picked up my buddies girl too take for a ride, she's been asking for a few weeks since her dad had a major heart attack,so she can clear her head.the day couldn't have been more perfect ,put about 100 miles under us stopped at the waldo flea market.started heading back about 20 miles on a open clear road ,three way intersection this Honda accord didn't even stop rolled right through and ran into the side of my 07 Heritage throwing the both of us off onto the road and we came to rest on the shoulder.I was awake the whole time. The bike is totaled,my friends girl has yet woke from this ride that was to be a mind clearing day.As of now I am out of the hospital, fractured ankle (with a brand new plate and screws)shattered collar bone cracked ribs and a crap load of road rash,Dr said i'll have too find another line of work due to damage of ankle.other than that I'm glad too be here and have time too spend with my grandkids,as soon as I am able to i'm planning to see amanda since the dr.s say she will be in the hospital for months. Please keep her in you prayers
got some good news and some bad news, first the good Amanda is awake and talking still too early to tell how much damage was done to her brain(dr said it's like shaken baby syndrome),the bad news is the guy that hit us does'nt have enough ins to cover our med bills or our lost time at work,so i guess we are just s.o.l.at least we are alive,i'm waiting to hear back from my lawyer on that though. Please everyone be safe out there.
Good to hear she is awake. May take a little while to find out the true extent of the damage hope fully its all temporary.
I would be preparing a case to sue the Accord driver. Just because he didnt carry enough insurance does not relieve him from his responcibilties.
Take care and good luck with your recovery. PT is called physical torture for a reason, listen to your therapist they realy do want what is best for you. Take Care DSRTDOC
update on amanda, she is out of the hospital, doing the rehab thing for her leg and arm,as far as the damage to her head it's just a miracle that she can even talk, drs said they can't believe the way she is improving.she said she wants to be the first to ride my next bike when i get it.(yup shes back) said her old man.its gonna be awhile before i get another one.so i'll be one of the people you see in daytona next year with my pickup with the bike stickers on the back windows.be safe out there and ride on
Dam! A week before yours, I had a girl pulla left turnin front of me on a country road, sound like we have similar titanium ankles with lots of screws. Hope you recover soon, I hope to be walking on it in a month or two. Hope the girl comes through it in one piece. Will pray for you both!
