Default 2007 tranny/engine gasket leak

Official 2007 engine /tranny gasket leak thread*******************************************

I hadthe weep almost from 00,then it seeped at 1k, at 5k became a leek. started on top then started on bottom where it then started to spit oil and now my garage floor looks like a leopard[:@]

Dealer tightened 4 bolts which seemed to slow/stop top seep but bottom got werse. In november they will remove engine and replace gasket? Bandaid the simptoms or a cure?

Tightening bolts may help your cause, yes many have reported the weep and leak as time and mileage added up.Not an easy, quick fix.Either motor or tranny, rear wheel etc has to come out. Most dealers go the engine way.Hot weather and temps may be playing into this.Or your bike may be wet sumping.Easy way to find out, have dealer pull the plug and see how much oil comes out your lower end.Not sure of your mileage but with the reports of crack runouts maybe your oil pump is going.Debri couldve went thru pump also.

oil psi looks ok according to gauge. the mechanic didthe flourecent test and said the gasket has a small leak. not shure about this plug thing or wet sumping?

Have seen this mentioned through out the board brieflyand wanted to try to collect as much info in one thread, for reference, reports, feedback, and updates.

I dont want to sound like a cry baby but theres only 7.5k on bike(job/kids I know)this bike should not be leaking, my amf didnt leak or,,,I would fix it. Well its under warrenty so they can fix it. It really starts drippin when im moveing, not bad when sittin. Sorry for ranting over an otherwise awsome bike but if traveling? one day,,,sell it? talk about explaining that one?

thanks

I noticed the weep on top of my 07, maybe coincidentally when i switched over to Mobil 1 synthetic in tranny and motor. Not dripping on bottom yet. Definately more noticable when hot outside. 2500 mi on bike. Where do you think it's comming from, the engine, or trans?

Are the leaks coming from where the engine has an oil galley thru the trans to the oil tank? I heard 07s featured this to eleminate external oil lines. Ford had problems with poor machine work between their cylinder heads and engine blocks on 1997 5.4Ls, and had an oil leak around the head gasket kinda like whats described. Wonder if theres a similar problem?

I personally think it is comming from my trans, now that I think about it. I changed my motor to syn at 500 mi, no leak. Did motor and trans to syn at about 1500, then saw the weep. I personally am going to leave it alone until it starts to drip. I really don't want any HD wrenches pulling my engine out to replace the gasket until necessary. I just don't want to take a chance with one problem being solved, and more created by sloppy or carless work. Just my paranoid .02

My former 2007 Ultra had some weeping on the top of the joint and later on developed a leak at the bottom. It definitelyleaks from the fitting of the internal oil lines. Once the void between the trans and the engine fills with oil, it will start to leak out, sometimes more, sometimes less. Watch the amount of leaking oil as it will hit the rear tire at the most inconvenient occasion.
Sold the bike at 16000 miles and bought an 2008. Not much of an improvement so far........
