Default 1st harley-1st time oil change

Bought a 1997 softail custom with 7000 miles on it and changed the oil myself and put too much oil in the tank and now after taking some out, I am finding that some comes out of my cark occasionall and gets on the chrome-how do I fix this problem??

I'm sorry but I'm having a problem understanding what you mean. Where is the oil coming from?

The cark is next to the blinker fluid resovoir.

Now, if it was in fact the carb, I'd say there is a crankcase ventilation problem, like a cracked hose.

Well hell, you would have thought that I could have figured out a type like cark and carb. Whenever you overfill your oil tank the first place you notice it is in the breather/carb/air cleaner. Take off the cover and clean it out all the excess oil. Make sure your oil tank is not overfilled and try it again. You should not be getting oil in your air cleaner after that. I'm sure you'll get some more comments on this one too. It's been talked about before and comes up every now and then. It's a very commen problem.

I had the same problem with my old SPORTY and I did what TERRY1955 is saying annd it worked. Don't fret it is easy to fix.

Don't sweat it Terry, you're probably still on meds from the dirt bike deal.

I don't think it is near the Muffler Bearing. But I remember seeing by the flus capacitor.
