Default UFC 77

Think Franklin will get his title back fromSilva? I think he learned from his mistakes and also will be healthier this time. He appeared off his game the last time they fought.

By the way, is it just me or does Silva appear to be batting for the other team...not that there's anything wrong with that.

What about Sylvia vs. Vera? I'm thinking Sylvia is done. He always was a big goof. Vera will submit him or kick him in his goofy head and knock his @$$ out.

And I see they're giving Jorge Gurgel another shot. Jeeze! This guy can't perform under pressure. Plus, he was a pain in the @$$ on the reality show. F'n Mr.Know-It-All.

richshould show up in champion form, however, silva is one bad dude -muai thai game/clinch is incredible. straight or gay doesn't matter I ain't gonna be the one to ask. [sm=escape.gif]IMOstraight. think silva will win by decision.

vera is also a bad dude, definetly under recognized! unless silvia catches him w/a lucky shot vera will prolly submit big tim.

77 is a weak card compared to previous ones. [:'(]

I'm EXCITED aboutUFC 77 tonight! Here's my picks for the two main fights:

Franklin vs. Silva... I gotta go with Franklin. I don't think that Franklin took Silva seriously enough the first time around... and Franklin just plain looked like sh*t even walking into the ring for that fight; his mind and body weren't in for the fight at all. Further, I think that Franklin needed the wake-up call. And then add that the fight is in Cincinnati (hometown of Franklin)... I gotta go with him. One other note... I didn't think that Travis Lutter looked good for his fight with Silva, but he gave Silva a good run for his money... the point is that Silva can (and will) be beaten.

Vera vs. Sylvia... I'm going with Vera. I saw both him and and Sylvia fight (separate bouts) in Sacramento last November. I thought that Vera looked fantastic... and Sylvia looked (as Couture stated) that he was fighting to retain his belt, not to necessarily win the fight or make a statement. I am concerned that Vera will have some ring rust (that was his last fight), but I think that he is hungry and talented... and that he also has the knock-out power and reach to cause problems for Sylvia.

As for the card being weak... I disagree... I just want good fights. The last card was awesome... with the exception that the main event fight was a joke. Liddell looked like sh*t against Jardine... he wasn't into it at all either. This will be good, and the fans will be into the fights, especially the main event.

Bring on the beers and nachos... LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!

Nice picks. I agree.

Franklin looked like crap the last time they fought. Supposedly there was something wrong with him, but he and his crew are too proud to bring it up. If you come to fight, you come to fight no matter what.

And you're right about the Lutter. He showed up in poor shape and gave Silva a run for his money. Luter finally gave in after getting caught in an easy triangle and being hit with elbows. He was just tired and wanted out.

One thing worries me though, the Silva vs. Marquardt fight. Silva took him out fairly easily and he is no slouch.

Should be a good fight.

I'm rooting for Vera over Sylvia. Vera may have a big mouth, but he's a good fighter. Sylvia is just a big dumb goof. If he changes everything he does and comes in with some real fighter aggression he'll have a shot.

Interesting note about this fight, these are thetop twoHeavy Weight contenders. Couture retired thus giving up his belt. Shouldn't this be a title bout?

Definitely not a weak card!

Besides the two main events, Schafer vs. Bonnar should be good. If Schafer has improved his Jits and stand-up, he should take the now steroidless Bonnar.

MacDonald vs. Okami should be another good one. Don't know if we'll get to see that one though.

The Bonner fights was good... but the rest was absolute JUNK! What a brutal night of UFC! VERY poor ref'ing on the Sylvia/Vera fight... most of the fight was the both of them ballroom dancing and dry-humping! And as for Franklin... sorry, I just can't believe that Silva is that good! I mean, Franklin looked A LOT better walking into the ring, but that was about the end of it.

Your thoughts?

I guess Silva IS that good. Franklin was landing some shots, but whatever Silva threw he landed with acuracy! He nailed Franklin right on the button and dazed him. That was the end of that.

So who's left at 185 to take on Silva? No one. Everyone else has been beat by Franklin or Silva. Silva's next fight will probably be against someone lower on the list just to give him a fight.

I know Vera said he busted his hand in the first round, but it looked likehe wasn't ready to handle such a big guy. And Sylvia wasn't as active as he used to be way back in the day. A win for Sylvia, but not an impressive one.

I like when most of the fights end early so we get to see some of the undercards, but why did they show that last fight? I would have liked to see the MacDonald vs. Okami fight.

IMO, the only reason they showed that last fight was to show that "Submission of the Night" thing... can't figure anything else.

I think that Silva MAY be that good... but the jury is still out for me. More time will tell.

Sylvia just hugged Vera the entire fight. That was the game plan... hold Vera so he couldn't explode. Effective, but boring as hell to watch. And Sylvia wonders why people booooo him. Duhhhhh!

as cazz stated, don't know what more you need to know/see regarding silva. he's is deadly. a sniper of sorts w/his shots. anyone can be beaten, however silva will stay champ for some time to come!

Who has he fought in the UFC?
[ul][*]The first fight I remember is Chris LIEBEN. Energetic guy, fun to watch, but no champion in the making.[*]The next one I recall is Rich FRANKLIN. Silva kicked the sh*t out of him... I was impressed.[*]Next fight (again, that I recall)... Travis LUTTER. Again, no champion in the making... and in my opinion, LUTTER could have had that fight (Silva did NOT impress me at all).[*]And most recently, FRANKLIN again... where Silva once again kicked the sh*t out of out him.[/ul]

In my opinion, Silva's fight against LIEBEN was no big deal. But LUTTER really had the potential to beat Silva. And finally, in my opinion, FRANKLIN just does not match up well with Silva... I am not convinced that it proves that Silva is "da bomb", but rather that Silva is a very good fighter against other guys who like to stand-up... he didn't look so good with a grappler like LUTTER.

In the end, for me, all this shows that Silva is a good fighter... maybe a great fighter, but that hasn't been proven yet... for me, he has to fight some more big names, especially some grapplers.

very well stated peyts and I would have to agree w/you. lutter may not be champ material but not far off. he didn't make weight if I recall, probably called into replace someoneat the lasthour. therefore it wasn't a title shot.didn't silva havehim in a leg triangle and was just rainin elbows? yes we need tosee moreof his ground game!

so who's next for silva?
