I just got back from the local dealer, I only went to take a look at a Fat Bob (which they didnt have).
I have always liked the V Rods just never really considered buying one. Then it happened, They had a Night Rod Special sitting on the floor. It drew me in like a magnet and one hour later I was riding her home.
Lets see, I bought a new Sportster in April, traded it in june on a Street Bob and then decided I wanted a Fat Bob so a friend bought my Street Bob in Sept and I have a Night Rod Special as of today. I wonder what the record is for moving thru Harleys. Oh well, im satisfied now.
I dont really like forward controls and thats my only complaint, and I knew that going in. So my next purchase will be a set of mids. Any suggestions on the mids?
Ill post some pics as soon as I can.

Congrats on the new ride. I got mine about a month ago. I had to call around to get the color I wanted, Black with the Mirage Orange stripe. Sweet! I saw a Special with middies today and it looked pretty jacked up. I asked the dealership if they had a kit and they said not yet. I sat onit and it wasn't pretty uncomfortable, even for an x-sportbiker. If your tall I would suggest trying it out before you switched. I'm about 6'1'.
I am 6' myself and I know the forwards give more leg room. But I have never liked the feel of them.
I just dont feel comftorable with them. I feel I have far more control with mids, Maybe some forward mount pegs for long distance cruising that I can either remove or fold out of the way.

Scroll down to the bottom and see their mid control kit. It's expensive but I have a set on my VRSCB and I love em'! Worth every penny!
Thanks for the pointer on the mid controls. I'm 5'5 and was scared of the forward controls at first. I've gotten used to them, but really like the idea of mid controls. Is this a hard conversion?

Switching to Mid controls isn't particularly difficlt to do. however, it may be a bit pricey. If you have a 2006 and newer bike, then you will need a left side foot peg mount, the mid control shifter link, and a clevis, and spacers.
The right side is a bit more tricky. You need the right side frame rail for the D, which has a rear weld on mount for the rear cylinder. I'm not sure, but you may need a new mid control rear cylinder, and you will need a new rear control brakeline. I believe there is a clevis you need for the foot peg on the right mid control as well. You may need to get a D or R mid pipe if you are running the Stock D pipes. A stock A or AW pipe WILL NOT WORK, since the mid pipe (2-1) interferes with the footpeg placement on the right side.
The EASIEST and CHEAPEST way to do this swap is to find someone with a D who will swap with you strait up. Sounds rather daunting, but it really isn't that bad.
Do a search on 1130cc.com and you'll see that quite a few folks have done this swap. You will also find a thread with the caveat's to avoid while doing it.
If you have an earlier model V-Rod, you can get a mid control set from Kosman racing. It's a pretty good setup, like Biker Bill said.
