In short, the sales MANAGER tells me that it would have to be 'worth their while' to get my style back with that color sooner than January. I wanted it sooner so I took my business elsewhere. I was able to get my ride in early December from another dealer. Jan 06 - Go to the same dealer after making an appt for my 1k service. 1 week prior i VERIFIED with the service clerk that they honored my purchased contract for services. Get up nice in early today and ride the scoot to the dealer. 8am, rougly 38 degrees. Hand over my key... lady right up ticket and tells me they DO NOT subscribe to the contract that I have for mileage service etc!!!! So, I come home furious... shoulda stayed there and talked to the General Manager. I called this guy and said 'wow, your place really sucks and i'm gonna tell pretty much everyone about it' He aplogized up and down and promised he would 'address' the issues. Doubt it.

I wonder if dealers have a website where they talk about how bad SOME of the customers are? I worked at a car dealer for many years and some of those customers were just unbelivable. I have stories that would keep you in stiches for days at a time. Sometimes customers expectations are too high and they forget that the dealership is there to make a profit. My dealers sign does not say "Church of Harley Davidson" I expect them to make some money off of me. In return, they take very good care of me.

I was in East Coast HD in Dumfries VA one day and a guy was in there who had just taken delivery of a Ultra that he had decked out about $28,000 with all the extras the day before and bought a new ball cap at the same time after he got home he noticed that the "O" in Davids-n was missing in the embroidery and just wanted to exchange it for another one. They told him they had a no return no exchange policy on apparell. Man he FLIPPED OUT!!!!!!!!! rightfully so of course, they threatened to call the police if he didn't leave the store. If I was him I would have rode the Ultra through their front window and backed out of the contract. I'm not sure about everywhere, but in VA you have 3 days to back out and return a major purchase. After seeing that I was DONE with that place that was total BULLS--T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Van Nuys HD, Calif is where I got my 05 SE Fatboy and I will never deal with them again......... After purchasing the bike there, my wife and I get the cold shoulder from pretty much everyone there except the Motorclothes girls. They give 10% off for the first month after purchase which is cool. I went in there at week 5 and asked for 10% off on my Sundowner seat. Parts guy said no and that I should talk to the Parts Manager. I did that and he also said no......I couldn't believe they wouldn't do some sort of "policy" deal or something. I work in heavy equipment and our field is predicated on policy warranties, deals, etc. Either way, I spent 20 minutes talking to the manager about why I would appreciate getting 10 off on this seat only and how I would probably go elsewhere to get it if they couldn't accomodate me. I know how this sounds but my opinion is that I just purchased one of their top of the line bikes, didn't get a deal on the bike, either. Just accepted the price as what it is. So what is a $25.00 discount if it means keeping the customer. I called Glendale HD, Calif and they said come on down and they would give me 10% just because of the hassle I had at Van Nuys. Guess where me new dealership is? Glendale is great. The people treat me great and I didn't even buy the bike there. Lastly, I had my 1K service done at Van Nuys (at week 4, BTW) and everything seemed well at the time. Until at the 5K service that I did myself, I found all the drain plugs had severely torn o-rings and gobs of pipe dope on them instead. AND, they were all finger loose. Live and learn.

Gengras Harley in Hartford, CT likes to sell their Demo bikes as brand new. When you confront them, they try to tell you that HD tests the bikes in WI and that's why you have 113 miles and the bike is dirty. Gengras owns a lot of car dearlerships and he runs his HD dearlership the same way. I think thay have one of the best parts departments but service and sales get a F-. HD should take the dealership away from him.

I have mixed emotions about Fort Worth Harley Davidson in West Fort Worth. The store is owned by the same individual that owns Texas Harley Davidson in Bedford. My Nephew bought a 2000 DWG at Texas HD and they threw in all kinds of incentives like T-shirts, manuals, and even a small rack. I got my 03 FXD at FWHD and I didn't even get a T-shirt (I thought they gave you a shirt with every $100 you spent?). I haggled with this guy for 6 hours trying for a sissy bar or a pair of boots or whatever... Nothing. Then when I discovered that a screw was missing from the tranny cover he acted like I was a pain in the butt. He did say they would fix it, but I'm expecting to be charged for it... 4 year warranty and all. I called Texas HD and they seemed happy to talk to me, not annoyed. Attitude is everything! *shrugs*

Just an observation..Harley likes to hear about bad service at it's dealerships..and they are very proactive with them...I believe there is contact info on the website where you can report that sort of thing.. http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/Utility/hd_contact_us.jsp?locale=en_US BTW..the odometer thing..is federal fraud, I do believe...

My mother lives in Hudson and have been at Gulf Coast Harley a few times while visiting (The bikini-bike wash in my signature was at that dealership as a matter of fact). Anyway it seems like they are more interested in selling you a new bike rather then help you with the one you have.

Just adding a confirmation about my previous thoughts on Ft Worth Harley. I just called them to see about the manuel for the FXD I just bought last week. When I was in the store these guys were my best friend. Now that the papers are signed and I've taken possesion of the bike they act like I'm a major annoyance. I didn't even get a nice, "Hey, how's the bike?" Needless to say I won't be doing any business there anymore. The word that comes to mind is @$$holes.

They even helped me pick out some of the first add ons (back rest parts and stage 1 mods) - sent me off with all the part numbers for my dealerhip to have an easy time setting me up - I feel they wet way out of their way for me

Maryland HD in Elkridge has some good people but also a couple of idiots (and at least one frickin LIAR). When I was selling my EG Classic, I called them to ask if they would inspect it and replace a part that was on recall. They said "Sure, just bring it in early. Only we can't do an inspection when it's raining." No problem. Two days later, bright sunny day, I take the bike over there first thing in the morning. Ride 35 miles in rush hour traffic. Girl behind counter (same girl I talked to on the phone two days prior) says "Oh no, you have to have an appointment for an inspection". Ok, I'm pissed but I figure I'm there so I told her to just do the recall part. She says "We're out of the recall part". Well, I'm really pissed off now. Parts guy I've dealt with calls me aside and tells me another place to get the inspection. When I got there I told the guy that Maryland HD referred me to him. He said "I do all their inspections. I charge $50 and they charge you $95". Now it makes sense why they wouldn't do it if it was raining. They didn't want to get wet riding the bike the 10 miles to the other shop. Also, they totally fricked up a 95" conversion on a friend's RKC. He had to take the bike to another dealer and have the whole thing redone.

Ramsey's Chesapeake HD in Darlington, Maryland doesn't seem to give a $hit about anything but the bottom line. I priced a bike there one time and they wanted 3K more than any other dealer I checked with. They will give a discount on parts ordered over the phone though.

Sorry... I must say I'm a tad ticked. I was told by the guys at FWHD that they would get me the manual when I bought my 03 FXD last Tuesday... I was told today I have to PAY for it. He called me to tell me it was in and he was going to call me to let me know if it was comp'd... He never called back. I'll get the manual, but I tell you what... They'll never see my fat @$$ ever again. Attitude goes a long way... in either direction. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! *edit* There was no place that I could find at the above website to voice dissatisfaction. I would sure like to find out where I can go to lodge a bi tch...

Just an addendum to the above... I went to pick up the manual today. They didn't have it. It was never ordered. I had to pay for it first. It was... (drum roll please) $20 for the manual (msrp) PLUS $6 FOR SHIPPING!!! I am fed up with these guys! What was supposed to be a fun and enjoyable experience has become just one long string of disappointments. If the rest of dealerships in the area are like this I'll probably end up selling out.

I have to second the wow post.........they are part of 3 (soon to be 4) HD dealers in the Tampa Bay area. I bought 2 bikes so far from Tampa HD, got treated great trading number 1 for rnumber 2 and every time I go there always treated well. I will say that when I go there my sales guy always shows me the new bikes that came in etc.. but that is his job! quote:

My wife and I were taking our first long ride with our new 06 Ultra Classic to Ocean City MD. I noticed that my air shocks on my suspension needed a little more air pressure and pulled into the Ocean City Harley Davidson Dealership. When I approached the service department to ask them if I could just BORROW their hand pump and put in about 5 more pounds of air, the guy sitting down with his feet up on the counter told me to "wait a minute". When he returned with the service manager they informed me they were too busy to help and if I wanted I could make an appointment to get the 2 minute service I needed done. I own the $40.00 hand pump needed for this job but as luck would have it I left it at the house. This dealership also has its very own TV show in the area where they talk about what it's like to be in the "Harley" family. The Harley family I know and love would never treat people like this.

I bought my last new bike there in '04, had my big bore done there last year and have always been treated with courtesy. Just thought I'd ask if it was a one time visit or you've had multiple poor experiences. Gary

After visiting the York factory on occasion the only "testing" they do is to ride them on a machine not unlike a dyno where the rear wheel spins on rollers and the bike stays stationary. They run the bikes up to about 75 to check for leaks and vibrations and then they're shut down. If anyone took a new bike I was interested in on a 113 mile "test ride" the bike had better come with a used price on it. Test drives, like rentals can include a real beating on a new motor.
