Default using buell wheels

I am just exhasuting all my options before I am considering using buell parts as donor parts. I know most of the set up on these customs bikes use an 18 rear and a 21 front. What about those of you out there who have any knowledge of going 17 in front and in back? Tell me your thoughts?
