Dyna Speedo Electron Catcher

Dyna Speedo Electron Catcher
I recently asked for some help, and felt something had gone wrong with my electron catcher in the instrument cluster
The problem showed up after a good detailing of the chrome and billet aluminumn parts.
Anyone seen this before??
If I turn my Hi beams on my Speedo goes to zero, and the security lamp comes on (NO security system).... check engine light lites, and low fuellight comes on.Left turn signal makes the right turn signal indicator blink, Right turn signal makes the left turn signal indicator blink....... Turn signals work normally/R=R, L=L.
When I turn the ignition switch on initially the speedo kinda hums andLCD flashes 3 times.
Thinking I have a bad ground, but can't locate the source. Have already cut the harness apart going to the speedo and separated all the wires thinking a short.
Bike runs fine, but can't ride at night without speedo or high beam.
Well it turned out to be aopen ground at pin 12 of connector 20. Apparently, when the ground was lost at this point, everything electrical dealing with the console gauges/indicator lamps had to go through everything else electrical of the same. Hence, turns signals cause everything else to flash, etc. (only indicators/ not actual devices). The bike worked just fine, but indicated otherwise.
Hope this helps somebody in the future.

Man, Doug. I don't know how you figured that all out, but kudos anyways! I'm sure someone will be helped with that nugget of wisdom in the future. Them darn elecrical gremlins can sometimes be a real pain.

Worse part of this is, I am sure I caused the problem myself, and anyone that has put 4" risers on their bike should be advised the wiring harness will only stretch so far. Unfortunately, wiring harnesses aren't filled with Spandex/Elastic and copper wire will only withstand so much pull before it breaks.
Can't blame MOCO for this one.

Oh crap, now I am worried, I have risers on mine. I hope I'll remember this thread if/when my speedo, turn signalsstarts going crazy.

I think that is what causes the poor innocent wire to separate.
Normally, I don't think it would be an issue.

Glad you managed to figure that out yourself - can't imagine how many hours a dealer might charge for diagnosing an electrical fault. I had read a thread previously about someone adding 4" risers and not have to lengthen cables, harnesses etc. Was looking at my stock set up and I wouldn't be able to get away with that on mine.

I think I am going to add 3 or 4" to my harness, while I still have it opened up.
