Default Question about Mikuni carb

I just picked up a used Sportster that has Mikuni carb. My only experience is with CVs and i'm trying to figure out if this thing is adjusted correctly. Can someone tell me how to adjust the acc pump correctly? I've reseached posts here and looked at the Mikuni web site but can't find anything specific.

the pump is adjusted by the screw on the upper right corner of the carb. facing the back of the air cleaner.
the factory sets the gap between the pushrod and the white nylon lever just above it at 2 mm
you can close it alittle for a little more responce off idle.

Mikuni has some pretty good manuals on their website, including a tuning manual that describes how to adjust the accelerator pump. http://mikuni.com/pdf/hsr_tuningmanual_021003.pdf
Go here http://mikuni.com/fs-carburetor.htmlto find installation guides, exploded views, tuning guide, performance guide, etc.

Default RE: Question about Mikuni carb

Mikuni carbs are more difficult to adjust, but after you have done a few it's probably a better carb for throttle response. I think Mentor gave you a good description. I have a bike in now with dual Mikuni's and the last shop had it all missed up. We sinked it with a tool used to tune multi-carbs and the fine tuned it on the dyno.
